Versatile furniture item

Abstract

A motorized furniture item configured to assume a plurality of different configurations, such as a stool, a chair, a sofa or other is provided. The furniture has a main body having an upper supporting face, a first and a second movable body, capable of supporting a user's body and arranged side by side upon the upper supporting face. The first movable body is rotatably connected to the main body and the second movable body is rotatably connected to the first movable body. Driving means for the first and a second movable body are housed inside the main body or the two movable bodies. An extractable table unit configured so that it can assume a first minimal-encumbrance arrangement is housed inside the main body. In a second use arrangement, it is extracted from the main body and provides a support surface.

1 . A motorized furniture item,
 configured to assume a plurality of different configurations wherein it makes a stool, a chair, a sofa, a chaise longue or other,   which motorized furniture item comprises:
 a main body having a bottom wall configured to be rested on the floor and an upper supporting wall; 
 a first movable body and a second movable body, said first movable body and second movable body being configured to support a user's body and being arranged side by side upon said upper supporting wall of said main body according to a longitudinal direction, 
 wherein said first movable body is rotatably connected to said main body at a first end side of said first movable body and according to a first horizontal rotation axis; 
 and said second movable body is rotatably connected to said first movable body at a second end side of said first movable body opposite to said first end side thereof according to a second horizontal rotation axis parallel to said first rotation axis; 
 said first rotation axis and second rotation axis being perpendicular to said longitudinal direction; 
 linear or rotational actuators or motors configured for driving said first movable body and second movable body, and being housed inside said main body or said first movable body or said second movable body; and 
 an extractable table unit, configured so to assume a first minimal-encumbrance arrangement, wherein said extractable table unit is housed inside said main body and a second operative arrangement, wherein said extractable table unit is extracted from said main body and provides a support surface. 
   
     
     
         2 . The furniture item according to  claim 1 , wherein said main body or each of said first movable body and second movable body has a polyhedral shape. 
     
     
         3 . The furniture item according to any of the preceding claims, wherein each of said first movable body and second movable body has a cushion-like, or pad-like, covering.

         5 . The furniture item according to  claim 1 , comprising an articulated supporting structure received inside said first movable body and said second movable body and actuated by said linear or rotational actuators or motors.

The furniture item according to  claim 4 , wherein said articulated supporting structure comprises a polygonal frame, having a first frame portion, received inside said first movable body and rotatably connected at a first end to a support structure of said main body according to said first rotation axis, and a second frame portion, received inside said second movable body and rotatably connected at a distal end to said first frame portion according to said second rotation axis. 
     
     
         7 . The furniture item according to  claim 1 , comprising an electromagnetic plate system configured to realize a removable attachment to other equal furniture items.

The furniture item according to  claim 1 , wherein said extractable table unit comprises a basic member and an upper extractable member, and wherein said basic member houses a mechanism configured to move said upper extractable part according to a sliding movement along a vertical direction of insertion/extraction in/from the basic part. 
     
     
         9 . The furniture item according to  claim 1 , comprising a control unit, configured to command movement of said first movable body and said second movable body in such a way that the furniture item assumes a selected configuration, which control unit is configured for communication with a remote control device. 
     
     
         10 . A furniture product, comprising a furniture item according  claim 9  and said remote control device. 
     
     
         11 . A furniture assembly, comprising a plurality of furniture items according to  claim 1 .
