Control of Search Results with Multipoint Pinch Gestures
Abstract
An indication of a touch on a touch-enabled screen of a device is received that indicates a selection of a date facet in a listing of items. The date facet denotes a temporal indicator, other facets denote non-temporal indicators. An indication of a pinch gesture is received. The date facet is scaled to produce a scaled-facet listing. The scaling includes modifying a degree of a characteristic of the date facet in an increasing amount including producing a scaled-out listing implemented as an updated portion of item data having a different temporal indicator than an initial display of the item data by an amount proportional to a magnitude of a pinch gesture characteristic of the pinch gesture. The scaled-facet listing is displayed by exposing an updated set of the item data having the modified degree of the characteristic and replacing previous item data with the scaled-out listing.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method comprising:
receiving an indication of a touch on a touch-enabled screen of a device that indicates a selection of a date facet displayed among multiple facets in a listing of items displayed on the touch-enabled screen, the date facet denoting a temporal indicator, other facets of the multiple facets denoting non-temporal indicators; receiving an indication of a pinch gesture; scaling, responsive to the touch and the pinch gesture, the date facet to produce a scaled-facet listing, the scaling comprising:
modifying a degree of a characteristic of the date facet in an increasing amount responsive to the pinch gesture including producing a scaled-out listing implemented as an updated portion of item data having a different temporal indicator than an initial display of the item data by an amount proportional to a magnitude of a pinch gesture characteristic corresponding to the pinch gesture; and
displaying the scaled-facet listing by exposing an updated set of the item data having the modified degree of the characteristic and replacing previous item data with the scaled-out listing.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pinch gesture characteristic includes any one of a pinch velocity, a pinch magnitude, or a pinch orientation.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pinch gesture includes a pinch-in gesture and the different temporal indicator includes a later temporal indicator than the initial display of the item data.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pinch gesture includes a pinch-out gesture and the different temporal indicator includes an earlier temporal indicator than the initial display of the item data.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the listing of items is displayed in an item data display area on the touch-enabled screen, the item data display area including an image data region containing a representation of image data corresponding to the item data and a metadata region containing a representation of metadata corresponding to the item data.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the indication of the pinch gesture is received in the metadata region.
7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the displaying the scaled-facet listing includes altering display of one but not both of the image data region and the metadata region.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the scaled-facet listing is produced at a rate based on the pinch gesture.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pinch gesture characteristic includes a velocity, a distance, and an angle that correspond to a separation between a first touch point and a second touch.
10 . A system comprising:
at least one processor, and memory including instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to perform operations comprising:
receiving an indication of a touch on a touch-enabled screen of a device that indicates a selection of a date facet displayed among multiple facets in a listing of items displayed on the touch-enabled screen, the date facet denoting a temporal indicator, other facets of the multiple facets denoting non-temporal indicators;
receiving an indication of a pinch gesture;
scaling, responsive to the touch and the pinch gesture, the date facet to produce a scaled-facet listing, the scaling comprising:
modifying a degree of a characteristic of the date facet in an increasing amount responsive to the pinch gesture including producing a scaled-out listing implemented as an updated portion of item data having a different temporal indicator than an initial display of the item data by an amount proportional to a magnitude of a pinch gesture characteristic corresponding to the pinch gesture; and
displaying the scaled-facet listing by exposing an updated set of the item data having the modified degree of the characteristic and replacing previous item data with the scaled-out listing.
11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the pinch gesture includes a pinch-in gesture and the different temporal indicator includes a later temporal indicator than the initial display of the item data.
12 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the pinch gesture includes a pinch-out gesture and the different temporal indicator includes an earlier temporal indicator than the initial display of the item data.
13 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the scaled-facet listing is produced at a rate based on the pinch gesture.
14 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the pinch gesture characteristic includes a velocity, a distance, and an angle that correspond to a separation between a first touch point and a second touch.
15 . One or more non-transitory hardware storage devices embodying a set of instructions, that when executed by at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:
receiving an indication of a touch on a touch-enabled screen of a device that indicates a selection of a date facet displayed among multiple facets in a listing of items displayed on the touch-enabled screen, the date facet denoting a temporal indicator, other facets of the multiple facets denoting non-temporal indicators; receiving an indication of a pinch gesture; scaling, responsive to the touch and the pinch gesture, the date facet to produce a scaled-facet listing, the scaling comprising:
modifying a degree of a characteristic of the date facet in an increasing amount responsive to the pinch gesture including producing a scaled-out listing implemented as an updated portion of item data having a different temporal indicator than an initial display of the item data by an amount proportional to a magnitude of a pinch gesture characteristic corresponding to the pinch gesture; and
displaying the scaled-facet listing by exposing an updated set of the item data having the modified degree of the characteristic and replacing previous item data with the scaled-out listing.
16 . The one or more hardware storage devices of claim 15 , wherein the pinch gesture includes a pinch-in gesture and the different temporal indicator includes a later temporal indicator than the initial display of the item data.
17 . The one or more hardware storage devices of claim 15 , wherein the pinch gesture includes a pinch-out gesture and the different temporal indicator includes an earlier temporal indicator than the initial display of the item data.
18 . The one or more hardware storage devices of claim 15 , wherein the listing of items is displayed in an item data display area on the touch-enabled screen, the item data display area including an image data region containing a representation of image data corresponding to the item data and a metadata region containing a representation of metadata corresponding to the item data.
