Claims

Abstract

A display device includes a detection device which detects an indicator and a position of the indicator and specifies whether the indicator is a first indicator or a second indicator; and a processor which sets operation modes of the first indicator and the second indicator. The operation modes include a drawing mode for drawing an image based on the position of the indicator and a mouse mode for performing an operation. When the first indicator is set to the drawing mode and the second indicator is set to the mouse mode, the processor generates an image object based on a position of the first indicator and supplies information indicating a position of the second indicator to an image supply device which is external to the display device.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A display device comprising:
 a detection device which detects an indicator and a position of the indicator and specifies whether the indicator is a first indicator or a second indicator; and   a processor which sets operation modes of the first indicator and the second indicator, the operation modes including a drawing mode for drawing an image based on the position of the indicator and a mouse mode for performing an operation,   wherein when the first indicator is set to the drawing mode and the second indicator is set to the mouse mode, the processor generates an image object based on a position of the first indicator and supplies information indicating a position of the second indicator to an image supply device which is external to the display device.   
     
     
         2 . The display device according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a communication interface which is connected to the image supply device,   wherein the processor supplies the information to the image supply device via the communication interface.   
     
     
         3 . The display device according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a display unit,   wherein
 the processor generates a combined image by superimposing the image object on image data supplied from the image supply device, and 
 the display unit displays the combined image. 
   
     
     
         4 . The display device according to  claim 1 , wherein the detection device includes an infrared sensor. 
     
     
         5 . The display device according to  claim 1 , wherein the detection device includes a visible light sensor. 
     
     
         6 . The display device according to  claim 1 , wherein the detection device includes a camera which picks up images on a display surface. 
     
     
         7 . The display device according to  claim 1 , wherein the detection device specifies the indicator by receiving radio waves from the indicator. 
     
     
         8 . The display device according to  claim 1 , wherein the drawing mode is an operation mode for designating a position of a dot or a line. 
     
     
         9 . The display device according to  claim 1 , wherein the drawing mode is an operation mode for designating attributes of images to be drawn. 
     
     
         10 . The display device according to  claim 1 , wherein the mouse mode is an operation mode for switching of an image supplied from the image supply device. 
     
     
         11 . The display device according to  claim 1 , wherein the mouse mode is an operation mode of a mouse operation. 
     
     
         12 . The display device according to  claim 1 , wherein the processor changes the operation modes of the first indicator by designating a predetermined position on a display surface. 
     
     
         13 . The display device according to  claim 3 , wherein the display unit displays an image object indicating a supply destination designated for a predetermined period if the supply destination is changed. 
     
     
         14 . The display device according to  claim 1 , wherein the first indicator is an electric pen and the second indicator is a user's finger. 
     
     
         15 . A projector comprising:
 a detection device which detects an indicator and a position of the indicator and specifies whether the indicator is a first indicator or a second indicator; and   a processor which sets operation modes of the first indicator and the second indicator, the operation modes including a drawing mode for drawing an image based on the position of the indicator and a mouse mode for performing an operation,   wherein when the first indicator is set to the drawing mode and the second indicator is set to the mouse mode, the processor generates an image object based on a position of the first indicator and supplies information indicating a position of the second indicator to an image supply device which is external to the projector.   
     
     
         16 . The projector according to  claim 15 , further comprising:
 a projection unit,   wherein
 the processor generates a combined image by superimposing the image object on image data supplied from the image supply device, and 
 the projection unit displays the combined image. 
   
     
     
         17 . The projector according to  claim 15 , wherein the detection device includes an infrared sensor. 
     
     
         18 . The projector according to  claim 15 , wherein the detection device includes a visible light sensor. 
     
     
         19 . The projector according to  claim 15 , wherein the detection device includes a camera which picks up images on a display surface. 
     
     
         20 . A display control method for controlling a display device, the method comprising:
 detecting an indicator and a position of the indicator;   specifying whether the indicator is a first indicator or a second indicator; and   setting operation modes of the first indicator and the second indicator, the operation modes including a drawing mode for drawing an image based on the position of the indicator and a mouse mode for performing an operation,   wherein when the first indicator is set to the drawing mode and the second indicator is set to the mouse mode, an image object is generated based on a position of the first indicator and information is supplied indicating a position of the second indicator to an image supply device which is external to the display device.
