Abstract
Methods and systems are presented for configuring and using a graphical container identified by an embed code (in a web page, e.g.) at least partly presented by a mobile client device, facilitating a consumer's rapid review of several items of video preview content each derived from a movie or other video-containing primary content.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 .- 19 . (canceled)
20 . A computer-implemented video presentation method comprising:
under control of a server computing system,
obtaining a graphical container identified by an embed code in a web page at least partly presented by a mobile client device;
causing to be presented, both simultaneously within the graphical container identified by the embed code of the web page and rendered at the mobile client device, a first preview control identifying first video content and a second preview control identifying second video content;
causing to be presented, simultaneously and in response to a user activation of the first preview control at the mobile client device, the second preview control and a first preview video content determined by the embed code, the first preview video content portraying distilled portions of the first video content and supplanting at least some of the first preview control;
causing to be presented, simultaneously and in response to a user activation of the second preview control at the mobile client device, the first preview control and a second preview video content determined by the embed code, the second preview video content portraying distilled portions of the second video content and supplanting at least some of the second preview control;
wherein the first preview video content has been generated by distilling from an initial C 1 frames, an initial frame width W 1 , and an initial frame height H 1 of the first video content a smaller number C 3 of frames of a smaller width D 3 and a smaller height H 3 to generate the first preview video content;
wherein the second preview video content has been generated by distilling from an initial C 2 frames, an initial frame width W 2 , and an initial frame height H 2 of the first video content the smaller number C 3 of frames of the smaller width D 3 and the smaller height H 3 to generate the second preview video content; and
wherein the first preview video content is downloaded to the mobile client device in response to a first clip request by the container prior to user activation of the corresponding first preview control and the second preview video content is downloaded to the mobile client device in response to a second clip request by the container prior to user activation of the second preview control.
21 . The method of claim 20 wherein the smaller number C 3 of frames for distilling first preview video content and second preview video content is greater than 150 frames and less than 750 frames.
22 . The method of claim 20 wherein the smaller number W 3 of frame width for distilling first preview video content and second preview video content is greater than 120 pixels and less than 640 pixels.
23 . The method of claim 20 wherein the smaller number W 3 of frame width for distilling first preview video content and second preview video content is greater than 67 pixels and less than 480 pixels.
24 . The method of claim 20 wherein the first preview content and second preview content are caused to be presented sequentially.
25 . The method of claim 20 wherein the first preview content and second preview content are caused to be presented simultaneously.
26 . The method of claim 20 wherein the first and second preview controls are caused to be presented at the mobile client device as part of a grid of preview controls, wherein the first and second preview controls are rendered simultaneously in different respective rows and columns.
27 . The method of claim 26 wherein the first and second preview video content are caused to be scrolled and/or magnified at the mobile client device to allow viewing multiple video previews in a single minute.
28 . The method of claim 20 wherein the first preview control is an image from the first video content and/or the second preview control is an image from the second video content.
29 . The method of claim 20 , further comprising:
streaming the second video content to the mobile client device as a conditional response to user activation of a second user action discrete from the activation of the second preview control at the mobile client device.
30 . The method of claim 29 wherein the second video content is caused to be render on the mobile client device in a separate window.
31 . The method of claim 20 wherein the first preview video content is replaced by third preview video content at the mobile client device without modifying the second preview video content and/or the embed code such that user activation of the first preview control causes presentation of the third preview video content instead of the first preview video content.
32 . A computer-implemented video presentation system comprising:
transistor-based circuitry configured to obtain a graphical container identified by an embed code in a web page at least partly presented by a mobile client device; transistor-based circuitry configured to present, both simultaneously within the graphical container identified by the embed code of the web page and rendered at the mobile client device, a first preview control identifying first video content and a second preview control identifying second video content; transistor-based circuitry configured to present, simultaneously and in response to a user activation of the first preview control at the mobile client device, the second preview control and a first preview video content determined by the embed code, the first preview video content portraying distilled portions of the first video content and supplanting at least some of the first preview control; transistor-based circuitry configured to present, simultaneously and in response to a user activation of the second preview control at the mobile client device, the first preview control and a second preview video content determined by the embed code, the second preview video content portraying distilled portions of the second video content and supplanting at least some of the second preview control; wherein the first preview video content has been generated by distilling from the first video content a uniform, smaller number of frames, frame width, and frame height to generate the first preview video content; and wherein the second preview video content has been generated by distilling from the second video content the uniform, smaller number of frames, frame width, and frame height to generate the second preview video content.
33 . A computer-readable non-transitory storage medium containing instructions for controlling a computer processor executing on a mobile device to perform a method comprising:
presenting a web page on a display of the mobile device, the web page having encoded within it an embed code; receiving a graphical container identified by the embed code; in response to loading the graphical container,
receiving first preview video content and second preview video content, wherein the first preview video content has been generated by distilling from a first video content a uniform, smaller number of frames, frame width, and frame height and wherein the second preview video content has been generated by distilling from the second video content the uniform, smaller number of frames, frame width, and frame height, wherein the first preview content and second preview video content are stored at the mobile device;
receiving and rendering a first preview control identifying the first video content and a second preview control identifying the second video content;
presenting, simultaneously and in response to a user activation of the first preview control at the mobile client device, the second preview control and the first preview video content, the first preview video content supplanting at least some of the first preview control; and presenting, simultaneously and in response to a user activation of the second preview control at the mobile client device, the first preview control and the second preview video content, the second preview video content supplanting at least some of the second preview control, wherein the first preview video content is presented sequentially or simultaneously with the second preview video content.
34 . The non-transitory storage medium of claim 33 , wherein the distilled generation of the first preview video content and the second preview video content enables viewing of several video previews in a single minute on a mobile device.
35 . The non-transitory storage medium of claim 33 wherein the method further comprises:
presenting in response to a user activation of an other control, distinct from the first preview control and the second preview control, a new page; and
rendering on the new page expanded content associated with the first preview video content, the expanded content including one or more of an option for low resolution access to the first video content, access to other content, and/or controls for accessing the first video content.
36 . The non-transitory storage medium of claim 33 wherein the first preview control is an image from the first video content and/or the second preview control is an image from the second video content.
37 . The non-transitory storage medium of claim 33 wherein the method further comprises:
presenting the first and second preview controls on the mobile client device as part of a grid of preview controls, wherein the first and second preview controls are rendered simultaneously in different respective rows and columns.
38 . The non-transitory storage medium of claim 37 wherein the method further comprises:
causing the first and second preview video content to be scrolled and/or magnified.
39 . The non-transitory storage medium of claim 33 wherein the uniform, smaller number of frames is greater than 150 frames.
