Abstract
A mat material including: inorganic fibers; and an oily fiber-scattering inhibitor attached to a surface of the inorganic fibers, wherein the amount of the fiber-scattering inhibitor attached is 0.05 to 2.0% by weight, and the mat material has an odor index of 80 or less as a relative value determined by an odor sensor from the odor of decomposed gas generated when the mat material is placed on a 500° C. hot plate, when the odor index of a mat material to which 1.0% by weight of an acrylic resin as a fiber-scattering inhibitor is attached is taken as 130.

inorganic fibers; and an oily fiber-scattering inhibitor attached to a surface of the inorganic fibers, wherein the amount of the fiber-scattering inhibitor attached is 0.05 to 2.0% by weight, and the mat material has an odor index of 80 or less as a relative value determined by an odor sensor from the odor of decomposed gas generated when the mat material is placed on a 500° C. hot plate, when the odor index of a mat material to which 1.0% by weight of an acrylic resin as a fiber-scattering inhibitor is attached is taken as 130.

wherein the fiber-scattering inhibitor contains silicone oil.
3 . The mat material according to claim 2 ,
wherein the fiber-scattering inhibitor further contains a surfactant.
4 . The mat material according to claim 2 ,
wherein the mat material has a water-repellent surface.
5 . The mat material according to claim 1 ,
wherein the fiber-scattering inhibitor contains a plant-derived component.
6 . The mat material according to claim 5 ,
wherein the fiber-scattering inhibitor further contains a surfactant.
7 . The mat material according to claim 1 ,
wherein the fiber-scattering inhibitor contains a surfactant formed from a plant-derived component.
8 . The mat material according to claim 1 ,
wherein when the mat material is trisected into a top surface portion, a middle portion, and a bottom surface portion in the thickness direction, the amount of the fiber-scattering inhibitor attached to the bottom surface portion is smaller than that in the top surface portion, and the mat material is disposed such that the bottom surface portion faces at least one member selected from the group consisting of an exhaust gas purification device, an exhaust gas treating body, and an exhaust pipe.
9 . The mat material according to claim 1 ,
wherein the mat material includes needle-punch marks.
10 . The mat material according to claim 1 , further comprising inorganic particles attached thereto.
11 . The mat material according to claim 1 ,
which is used as a heat insulating material.
12 . The mat material according to claim 1 ,
which is used as a holding seal material for holding the exhaust gas treating body by being wrapped around the exhaust gas treating body and disposed between the exhaust gas treating body and a metal casing in the exhaust gas purification device.
13 . An exhaust system comprising:
at least one member selected from the group consisting of an exhaust gas purification device, an exhaust gas treating body, and an exhaust pipe in an automotive exhaust system; and the mat material according to claim 1 disposed on a surface of the at least one member.
14 . An exhaust system comprising:
