Method of treating hypertension

Abstract

Disclosed herein are compositions and methods for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension, including pulmonary arterial hypertension. The methods include administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of cinitapride or derivative thereof. The compositions include an effective amount of cinitapride or derivative thereof, in some instances combined with one or more additional agents for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension.

         20 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising cinitapride or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a further agent selected from the group consisting of a PDE-5 inhibitor, a calcium channel blocker, a prostacyclin pathway agonist, an endothelin receptor antagonist, a guanylate cyclase stimulator, an anti-coagulants, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         21 . The pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 20 , wherein the further agent is a PDE-5 inhibitor. 
     
     
         22 . The pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 20 , wherein the further agent is a calcium channel blocker. 
     
     
         23 . The pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 20 , wherein the further agent is a prostacyclin pathway agonist. 
     
     
         24 . The pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 20 , wherein the further agent is an endothelin receptor antagonist. 
     
     
         25 . The pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 20 , wherein the further agent is a guanylate cyclase stimulator. 
     
     
         26 . The pharmaceutical composition according to  claim 20 , wherein the further agent is an anti-coagulant. 
     
     
         27 . A kit comprising cinitapride or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and at least one other agent effective to treat pulmonary hypertension. 
     
     
         28 . The kit of  claim 27 , wherein the at least one other agent comprises a PDE-5 inhibitor, a calcium channel blocker, a prostacyclin pathway agonist, an endothelin receptor antagonist, a guanylate cyclase stimulators, an anti-coagulants, or a combination thereof. 
     
     
         29 . The kit of  claim 27 , wherein the at least one other agent comprises:
 a PDE-5 inhibitor comprising avanafil, lodenafil, mirodenafil, sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, udenafil, zaprinast, or icariin; or   a prostacyclin pathway agonist comprising epoprostenol, treprostinil, iloprost, and selexipag; or   an endothelin receptor antagonist comprising bosentan, macitentan, ambrisentan, and sitaxsentan.   
     
     
         30 . The kit of  claim 27 , wherein cinitapride and the at least one other agent are in separate pharmaceutical compositions. 
     
     
         31 . The kit of  claim 27 , wherein cinitapride and the at least one other agent are in the same pharmaceutical composition. 
     
     
         32 . The kit of  claim 27 , wherein the at least one other agent comprises:
 a PDE-5 inhibitor comprising avanafil, lodenafil, mirodenafil, sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, udenafil, zaprinast, or icariin.   
     
     
         33 . The kit of  claim 27 , wherein the at least one other agent comprises:
 a prostacyclin pathway agonist comprising epoprostenol, treprostinil, iloprost, and selexipag   
     
     
         34 . The kit of  claim 27 , wherein the at least one other agent comprises:
 an endothelin receptor antagonist comprising bosentan, macitentan, ambrisentan, and sitaxsentan.
