Abstract
The present disclosure provides an orientation-nonspecific sensor port for use in analyte meters designed to detect and quantify analyte levels in a fluid sample along with methods of using the same. The present disclosure also provides compositions and methods for facilitating the correct insertion of a sensor into a corresponding analyte meter.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A device comprising:
a housing; a controller unit coupled to the housing, the controller unit configured to:
process a signal received from an analyte sensor associated with an analyte;
determine a concentration of the analyte based on the signal received;
generate a command to query a user whether to perform a medication dosage calculation;
determine, based on the user query, whether to perform the medication dosage calculation or whether not to perform the medication dosage calculation; and
automatically enter into a medication dosage determination mode if the medication dosage calculation is to be performed.
2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the medication dosage calculation is a bolus-type calculation, the bolus calculation being at least one of a single-dose bolus, a correction bolus, a dual bolus, an extended bolus, and a square wave bolus.
3 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the bolus calculation is at least one of an insulin bolus calculation and a carbohydrate bolus calculation.
4 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising a display unit coupled to the housing, wherein the control unit is configured to display on the display unit at least one of the concentration of the analyte and the command to query the user whether to perform the medication dosage calculation.
5 . The device of claim 4 , wherein the display unit is a touch-screen.
6 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising an input unit coupled to the housing, wherein the control unit is configured to allow the user, based on the user query, to select whether to perform the medication dosage calculation or whether not to perform the medication dosage calculation using the input unit.
7 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the analyte sensor is a continuous analyte monitoring sensor.
8 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the device is a continuous analyte monitoring device.
9 . The device of claim 1 , further comprising an integrated medication delivery device for administering a medication dosage amount.
10 . A device comprising:
a housing; a controller unit coupled to the housing, the controller unit configured to:
process a signal received from an analyte sensor associated with an analyte;
determine a concentration of the analyte based on the signal received;
generate a first command to query a user whether to perform a medication dosage calculation;
determine, based on the first user query, whether to perform the medication dosage calculation or whether not to perform the medication dosage calculation;
automatically enter into a medication dosage determination mode if the medication dosage calculation is to be performed, wherein the controller unit is configured in the medication dosage determination mode to:
generate a second command to query the user of a type of medication dosage calculation to be performed;
execute, based on the second user query, a calculation routine associated with the type of medication calculation to be performed; and
determine, based on the calculation routine, a medication dosage amount.
11 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the medication dosage calculation is a bolus-type calculation, the bolus calculation being at least one of a single-dose bolus, a correction bolus, a dual bolus, an extended bolus, and a square wave bolus.
12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the bolus calculation is at least one of an insulin bolus calculation and a carbohydrate bolus calculation.
13 . The device of claim 10 , further comprising a display unit coupled to the housing, wherein the control unit is configured to display on the display unit at least one of the concentration of the analyte, the first command to query the user whether to perform the medication dosage calculation, the second command to query the user of the type of medication dosage calculation to be performed, and the medication dosage amount.
14 . The device of claim 10 , further comprising an input unit coupled to the housing, wherein the control unit is configured to allow the user, based on the first user query, to select whether to perform the medication dosage calculation or whether not to perform the medication dosage calculation using the input unit; and
to allow the user, based on the second user query, to select the type of medication dosage calculation to be performed using the input unit.
15 . The device of claim 10 , further comprising a data storage unit coupled to the housing, wherein the calculation routine is stored in the data storage unit and the control unit is configured to retrieve the calculation routine from the data storage unit.
16 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the control unit is configured to generate at least a third command to query the user for information required to execute the calculation routine.
17 . The device of claim 16 , wherein the third user query is at least one of an estimate of carbohydrate amount, an insulin sensitivity value, and an insulin on board information.
18 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the analyte sensor is a continuous analyte monitoring sensor.
19 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the device is a continuous analyte monitoring device.
20 . The device of claim 10 , further comprising an integrated medication delivery device for administering the medication dosage amount.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
