Abstract

Techniques described herein provide a domain split display. One or more implementations generate a parent page comprising a content iframe that is a child iframe of the parent page, where the parent page is associated with a first domain and the content iframe is associated with a second domain. Various implementations then generate, within the content iframe, a plurality of grandchild iframes of the parent page that are sibling iframes at a same level within the parent page, where the grandchild iframes are enabled to communicate with each other regardless of domain, such as a first grandchild iframe associated with the first domain and a second grandchild iframe associated with the second domain. In turn, the parent page resizes the content iframe by: receiving, via the first grandchild iframe, size information from the second grandchild iframe and use the size information to resize the content iframe.

What is claimed is:

         1 . A method comprising:
 generating a parent page comprising a content iframe that is a child iframe of the parent page, the parent page associated with a first domain, the content iframe associated with a second domain; generating, within the content iframe, a plurality of grandchild iframes of the parent page that are sibling iframes at a same level within the parent page and enabled to communicate with each other regardless of domain, a first grandchild iframe of the plurality of grandchild iframes associated with the first domain, a second grandchild iframe of the plurality of grandchild iframes associated with the second domain; and resizing, by the parent page, the content iframe by:
 receiving, at the first grandchild iframe, a size information from the second grandchild iframe;
 receiving, at the parent page, the size information from the first grandchild iframe; and
 using, at the parent page, the size information to resize the content iframe.

         2 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein said generating the parent page comprising the content iframe further comprises:
 communicating, to a server, a first request call for first content associated with the parent page; receiving, from the server, first content associated with the first domain, wherein the first content includes instructions to generate the content iframe in the parent page; and transmitting, in response to receiving the instructions to generate the content iframe, a second request call to the server for second content associated with the content iframe.

         3 . The method as recited in claim 2 further comprising:
 receiving, from the server, the second content, wherein the second content includes:
 instructions to include the first grandchild iframe and the second grandchild iframe; and
 script that facilitates communications between the first grandchild iframe and the second grandchild iframe.

         4 . The method as recited in claim 2 , wherein the first request call is directed to the first domain, and
 wherein the second request call is directed to the second domain.

         5 . The method as recited in claim 2 , wherein the first content includes formatting instructions in cascading style sheet (CSS).

         6 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the parent page comprises a webpage associated with a publication system.

         7 . The method as recited in claim 6 , wherein the publication system comprises at least one of:
 a commerce system; a marketplace system; a social networking system; or a search engine.

         8 . A method comprising:
 receiving, from a server, first content associated with a first domain, the first content including instructions to:
 generate a parent page associated with the first domain; and
 generate a content iframe in the parent page as a child iframe, the content iframe associated with a second domain;
   receiving, from the server, second content associated with the second domain, the second content including instructions to include a first grandchild iframe associated with the first domain and a second grandchild iframe associated with the second domain in the content iframe; generating the parent page with the content iframe included in the parent page, and the first grandchild iframe and the second grandchild iframe included in the content iframe such that the first grandchild iframe and the second grandchild iframe are:
 sibling iframes at a same level within the parent page; and
 able to communicate with each other regardless of domain; and
   resizing, by the parent page, the content iframe by:
 receiving, at the first grandchild iframe, size information from the second grandchild iframe;
 receiving, at the parent page, the size information from the first grandchild iframe; and
 using, at the parent page, the size information to resize the content iframe.

         9 . The method as recited in claim 8 , wherein the second content comprises user-generated content.

         10 . The method as recited in claim 8 , wherein the first content comprises a webpage associated with a publication system.

         11 . The method as recited in claim 10 , wherein the publication system comprises at least one of:
 a commerce system; a marketplace system; a social networking system; or a search engine.

         12 . The method as recited in claim 8 , wherein said receiving the first content, said receiving the second content, said generating, and said resizing are performed by a browser.

         13 . The method as recited in claim 8 , wherein the second content further includes script that facilitates communications between the first grandchild iframe and the second grandchild iframe.

         14 . A system comprising:
 one or more processors; and computer-readable storage memory devices that include processor-executable instructions which, responsive to execution by the one or more processors, cause the system to perform operations comprising:
 generating a parent page comprising a content iframe that is a child iframe of the parent page, the parent page associated with a first domain, the content iframe associated with a second domain;
 generating, within the content iframe, a plurality of grandchild iframes of the parent page that are sibling iframes at a same level within the parent page and enabled to communicate with each other regardless of domain, a first grandchild iframe of the plurality of grandchild iframes associated with the first domain, a second grandchild iframe of the plurality of grandchild iframes associated with the second domain; and
 resizing, by the parent page, the content iframe by:
 receiving, at the first grandchild iframe, a size information from the second grandchild iframe;
 receiving, at the parent page, the size information from the first grandchild iframe; and
 using, at the parent page, the size information to resize the content iframe.

         15 . The system as recited in claim 14 , wherein said generating the parent page comprising the content iframe further comprises:
 communicating, to a server, a first request call for first content associated with the parent page; receiving, from the server, first content associated with the first domain, wherein the first content includes instructions to generate the content iframe in the parent page; and communicating, in response to receiving the instructions to generate the content iframe, a second request call to the server for second content associated with the content iframe.

         16 . The system as recited in claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise:
 receiving, from the server, the second content, wherein the second content includes: instructions to include the first grandchild iframe and the second grandchild iframe; and script that facilitates communications between the first grandchild iframe and the second grandchild iframe.

         17 . The system as recited in claim 15 , wherein the first request call is directed to the first domain, and
 wherein the second request call is directed to the second domain.

         18 . The system as recited in claim 15 , wherein the first content includes formatting instructions in cascading style sheet (CSS).
