Abstract

Systems and methods for automated aggregated content commenting are disclosed herein. Such a system can include a memory including a content database; an evaluation criteria database; and a comment database. The system can include at least one server. The at least one server can: receive a content identifier; receive a user identifier; provide a representation of the piece of content to the user; receive a comment from the user identifying a portion of the piece of content; generate a portion of the comment database linked to the user and the content; generate an entry in the portion of the comment database linked to the user and the content; and store the comment in the entry in the portion of the comment database.

Claims

What is claimed is:

         1 . A system comprising:
 memory comprising a content database, an evaluation criteria database, and a comment database; at least one server configured to:
 receive a content identifier identifying a piece of content associated with an evaluation metric represented by an evaluation criteria identifier;
 receive from a user a comment associated with at least a portion of the evaluation metric and identifying a portion of the piece of content;
 receive a request for return of comments, the request identifying a specified category;
 identify, in response to the received comment request, at least one comment having the specified category from the comment database; and
 provide the identified at least one comment and the portion of the evaluation metric corresponding to the identified at least one comment to the user.

         2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one server is configured to generate a portion of the comment database linked to the user and the piece of content.

         3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the at least one server is configured to: generate an entry in the portion of the comment database linked to the user and the piece of content, and store the comment in the entry in the portion of the comment database.

         4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein a pointer links at least one entry in the portion of the comment database to the user and to the content.

         5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the at least one server is configured to generate the entry in the portion of the comment database also linked to the at least one metric for evaluation of the content in the evaluation criteria database.

         6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the received comment comprises at least one metric identifier indicating a link between the received comment and the at least one metric for evaluation of the content.

         7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the content comprises at least one of: a video file; and an audio file.

         8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the comment comprises a time stamp identifying a portion of the at least one of: the video file; and the audio file, relevant to the comment.

         9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the comment comprises a comment body comprising a text string generated via user input.

         10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the at least one server is further configured to: launch a commenter interface; and provide a representation of the piece of content to the user via the commenter interface.

         11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the at least one server is configured to store the comment, wherein the representation of the piece of content is not a downloaded version of the content, and wherein the storing of the comment does not change the piece of content.

         12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the piece of content is provided streaming via the commenter interface.

         13 . A method comprising:
 receiving at at least one server a content identifier identifying a piece of content associated with an evaluation metric represented by an evaluation criteria identifier; receiving from a user a comment associated with at least a portion of the evaluation metric and identifying a portion of the piece of content; receiving at the at least one server a request for return of comments, the request comprising a specified comment category; identifying, in response to the received comment request, at least one comment having the specified category from a comment database; and providing the identified at least one comment and the portion of the evaluation metric corresponding to the identified at least one comment to the user via a user device.

         14 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising providing a representation of the piece of content to the user, wherein providing the representation of the piece of content to the user comprises providing the representation of the piece of content to the user device.

         15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein providing the representation of the piece of content to the user device comprises streaming the piece of content to the user device.

         16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the received comment comprises at least one metric identifier indicating a link between the received comment and the at least one metric for evaluation of the content.

         17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the content comprises at least one of: a video file; an image file; and an audio file.

         18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the comment comprises a time stamp identifying a portion of the at least one of: the video file; and the audio file, relevant to the comment.

         19 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising launching a commenter interface, wherein the representation of the piece of content is provided to the user via the commenter interface.

         20 . The method of claim 19 , further comprising: generating a portion of the comment database linked to the user and the piece of content; generating an entry in the portion of the comment database linked to the user and the piece of content; and storing the comment in the entry in the portion of the comment database.
