Abstract
A method for producing a domestic appliance plate from a starting mixture. In order to provide a domestic appliance plate having a high resistance to thermal shock, good thermal insulation, and advantageous mechanical properties, at least magnesium silicate hydrate, kaolinite, calcined kaolinite, and aluminum oxide are used for the starting mixture.

1 . A domestic appliance device, comprising a domestic appliance plate made from a starting mixture comprising at least magnesium silicate hydrate, kaolinite, calcined kaolinite and pure aluminum oxide.
2 . The domestic appliance device of claim 1 , wherein the domestic appliance plate is a hob plate.
3 . The domestic appliance device of claim 1 , wherein the domestic appliance plate has a mass fraction of 12% to 16% magnesium oxide, 30% to 35% aluminum oxide and 52% to 57% silicon dioxide.
4 . The domestic appliance device of claim 1 , wherein a substantial part of the domestic appliance plate comprises a cordierite crystal phase.
5 . The domestic appliance device of claim 1 , wherein the domestic appliance plate has a density between 1.8 g/cm 3 and 2.4 g/cm 3 .
6 . The domestic appliance device of claim 1 , wherein the domestic appliance plate has a thermal shock resistance of at least 300 K.
7 . The domestic appliance device of claim 1 , further comprising a protective layer, surrounding the domestic appliance plate at least partially.
8 . The domestic appliance device of claim 1 , wherein the starting mixture includes ball clay to increase plasticity.
9 . The domestic appliance device of claim 1 , wherein the starting mixture includes high-purity synthetic cordierite.
10 . The domestic appliance device of claim 1 , wherein the starting mixture includes at least one member selected from the group consisting of fireclay cordierite, aluminum titanate, and coloring agents.
11 . The domestic appliance device of claim 1 , wherein the starting mixture is kneaded to a homogeneous paste.
12 . The domestic appliance device of claim 11 , wherein the homogeneous paste is extruded to form a green sheet.
