Compositions and Methods for the Delivery of Agents

Abstract

The present invention relates to methods and compositions for the delivery of cosmetics and medicants. In some embodiments, the invention relates to compositions comprising both hydrophobic and hydrophilic polymers. In preferred embodiments, the invention relates to the delivery of peptides, small molecules and other bioactive compounds using the compositions and methods disclosed herein.

We claim: 
     
         1 . A method for delivering an active ingredient to the wet surface of mucosa: a) providing i) a subject having a wet surface of mucosa, ii) a patch comprising electrospun hydrophilic fibers and an active ingredient; and b) administering said patch to said wet surface of mucosa under conditions such that said active ingredient is delivered. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said subject exhibits symptoms associated with a disorder. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said patch adheres to said wet surface of mucosa. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said active ingredient is a medication. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said active ingredient is a drug. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein said administering results in ophthalmic drug delivery. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said patch forms an invisible film on said mucosa. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said active ingredient is an anti-inflammatory agent.
