Marketing messages in mobile commerce
Abstract
Methods, systems, and machine-readable media are disclosed for providing marketing messages to a mobile device. According to one embodiment, a method of providing one or more marketing messages to a mobile device in a mobile commerce system can comprise receiving at a mobile wallet server a set of information from an acquirer system. The set of information can identify one or more marketing offers. One or more marketing messages can be generated by the mobile wallet server based on the set of information identifying the one or more marketing offers. For example, the marketing messages can comprise Short Message Service (SMS) messages, email messages, or other types of messages. Each of the one or more marketing messages can be sent from the mobile wallet server to one or more mobile devices.

2 . A system, comprising:
an acquirer system that is configured to: generate a set of information identifying one or more marketing offers; determine one or more recipients for the one or more marketing offers, including receiving, from a service provider for one or more mobile devices, registration information identifying the one or more mobile devices; receive an authorization request from a point of sale device; transmit the authorization request to a financial institution computing system; receive an approval message from the financial institution computing system; and transmit the approval message to the point of sale device; and a mobile wallet server communicatively coupled with a wireless communications network and the acquirer system, wherein the mobile wallet server is configured to: receive a set of information identifying the one or more marketing offers from the acquirer system; generate one or more marketing messages based on the set of information identifying the one or more marketing offers; and provision each of the one or more marketing offers to a mobile wallet application on a mobile device via the wireless communications network.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein:
the mobile device is configured to transfer the one or more marketing messages from the mobile device to an additional mobile device; and messages between the mobile device and the additional mobile device when transferring the one or more marketing messages include a unique identifier generated by the mobile device and the additional mobile device.
4 . The system of claim 2 , wherein:
the one or more marketing messages comprise short message service (SMS) or email messages.
5 . The system of claim 2 , wherein:
the acquirer system generates the set of information based on a selection of one or more predefined marketing offers.
6 . The system of claim 2 , wherein:
the acquirer system generates the set of information based on information provided by a marketing entity, wherein the marketing entity is not a merchant associated with the one or more marketing offers.
7 . The system of claim 2 , wherein:
the acquirer system is further configured to determine one or more recipients for the one or more marketing offers; and the acquirer system generates the set of information based on preference information for the one or more recipients of the one or more marketing offers.
8 . The system of claim 2 , wherein:
the acquirer system is further configured to receive an account inquiry from the mobile wallet server; and the mobile wallet server is configured to:
receive account information from the acquirer system in response to the account inquiry;
translate the account information by encrypting the account information; and
transmit the translated results to the mobile device.
9 . The system of claim 2 , wherein:
the mobile wallet server is further configured to determine one or more recipients for the one or more marketing offers.
10 . The system of claim 2 , wherein:
the authorization request is routed from a near field communications (NFC) interface of the mobile device to the acquire system by the point of sale device.
11 . The system of claim 2 , wherein:
the acquirer system is further configured to: receive an authorization code along with the approval message; capture additional information; and route the authorization code to the point of sale device.
12 . A method, comprising:
generating, at an acquirer system, a set of information identifying one or more marketing offers; determining, by the acquirer system, one or more recipients for the one or more marketing offers, including receiving, from a service provider for one or more mobile devices, registration information identifying the one or more mobile devices; receiving, at the acquirer system, an authorization request from a point of sale device; transmitting, by the acquirer system, the authorization request to a financial institution computing system; receiving, at the acquirer system, an approval message from the financial institution computing system; and transmitting, by the acquirer system, the approval message to the point of sale device; receiving, at a mobile wallet server, a set of information identifying the one or more marketing offers from the acquirer system; generating, by the mobile wallet server, one or more marketing messages based on the set of information identifying the one or more marketing offers; and
provisioning, by the mobile wallet server, each of the one or more marketing offers to a mobile wallet application on a mobile device via the wireless communications network.
13 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
downloading and installing, by the mobile wallet server, the mobile wallet application onto the mobile device.
14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein:
the one or more marketing messages comprise short message service (SMS) or email messages.
15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein:
the acquirer system generates the set of information based on a selection of one or more predefined marketing offers.
16 . The method of claim 12 , wherein:
the acquirer system generates the set of information based on information provided by a marketing entity, wherein the marketing entity is not a merchant associated with the one or more marketing offers.
17 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
determining, by the acquirer system, one or more recipients for the one or more marketing offers, wherein the acquirer system generates the set of information based on preference information for the one or more recipients of the one or more marketing offers.
18 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
receiving, at the acquirer system, an account inquiry from the mobile wallet server; receiving, at the mobile wallet server, account information from the acquirer system in response to the account inquiry; translating, by the mobile wallet server, the account information by encrypting the account information; and transmitting, by the mobile wallet server, the translated results to the mobile device.
19 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
determining, by the mobile wallet server, one or more recipients for the one or more marketing offers.
20 . The method of claim 12 , wherein:
the authorization request is routed from a near field communications (NFC) interface of the mobile device to the acquire system by the point of sale device.
21 . The method of claim 12 , wherein
