System and method for transaction automation

Abstract

A system and method provides a user of a network-based commerce system drag and drop functionality that allows a user to purchase goods from a network-based transaction system through the use of links and images.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method comprising:
 receiving a search request from a client device, the search request comprising an identification of an item;   retrieving at least a search result from a website based on the identification of the item of the search request, the search result comprising an item listing that includes a Uniform Resource Locator (URL), image data, and item information;   causing display of a presentation of the search result at the client device, the presentation of the search result including a display of the image data at a first location within an interface displayed at the client device;   receiving a user input that selects and drags the display of the image data from the first location within the interface to a second location within the interface;   retrieving the item information of the item listing from the website based on the URL of the item listing, in response to the user input that selects and drags the display of the image data from the first location within the interface to the second location within the interface;   storing the item information of the item listing at a memory location within the client device; and   presenting the item information and the URL of the item listing at the client device in response to the storing the item information of the item listing at the memory location within the client device.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises:
 receiving a purchase request for the item from the client device;   retrieving an update to the item information of the item listing based on the URL of the item listing that corresponds to the item; and   causing display of a purchase confirmation request at the client device, the purchase confirmation request comprising the update to the item information of the item.   
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the method further comprises:
 receiving an acceptance of the purchase confirmation request from the client device; and   transmitting the purchase request for the item from the client device to a payment server in response to the acceptance of the purchase confirmation request.   
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the item information of the item listing includes a picture that depicts the item that is available for sale, and a price of the item that is available for sale. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises:
 receiving a request to log a user associated with the client device into a user account;   retrieving an update to the item information of the item listing based on the URL of the item listing that corresponds to the item, in response to the receiving the request to log the user associated with the client device into the user account; and   updating the item information of the item listing based on the update at the client device.   
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the updating the item information of the item listing based on the update at the client device includes:
 causing display of an indication that the item of the item listing is available.   
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the retrieving the update to the item information of the item listing based on the URL of the item listing that corresponds to the item includes:
 causing the client device to transmit a request for the update to the URL.   
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the presenting the item information and the URL of the item listing at the client device includes:
 causing display of an identification of the item information and the URL among a set of items stored at the client device.   
     
     
         9 . A system comprising:
 one or more processors of a machine; and   a memory storing instructions that, when executed by at least one processor among the one or more processors, causes the machine to perform operations comprising:   receiving a search request from a client device, the search request comprising an identification of an item;   retrieving at least a search result from a website based on the identification of the item of the search request, the search result comprising an item listing that includes a Uniform Resource Locator (URL), image data, and item information;   causing display of a presentation of the search result at the client device, the presentation of the search result including a display of the image data at a first location within an interface displayed at the client device;   receiving a user input that selects and drags the display of the image data from the first location within the interface to a second location within the interface;   retrieving the item information of the item listing from the website based on the URL of the item listing, in response to the user input that selects and drags the display of the image data from the first location within the interface to the second location within the interface;   storing the item information of the item listing at a memory location within the client device; and   presenting the item information and the URL of the item listing at the client device in response to the storing the item information of the item listing at the memory location within the client device.   
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein the instructions cause the machine to perform operations further comprising:
 receiving a purchase request for the item from the client device;   retrieving an update to the item information of the item listing based on the URL of the item listing that corresponds to the item; and   causing display of a purchase confirmation request at the client device, the purchase confirmation request comprising the update to the item information of the item.   
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 10 , wherein the instructions cause the machine to perform operations further comprising:
 receiving an acceptance of the purchase confirmation request from the client device; and   transmitting the purchase request for the item from the client device to a payment server in response to the acceptance of the purchase confirmation request.   
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein the item information of the item listing includes a picture that depicts the item that is available for sale, and a price of the item that is available for sale. 
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein the instructions cause the machine to perform operations further comprising:
 receiving a request to log a user associated with the client device into a user account;   retrieving an update to the item information of the item listing based on the URL of the item listing that corresponds to the item, in response to the receiving the request to log the user associated with the client device into the user account; and   updating the item information of the item listing based on the update at the client device.   
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein the updating the item information of the item listing based on the update at the client device includes:
 causing display of an indication that the item of the item listing is available.   
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein the retrieving the update to the item information of the item listing based on the URL of the item listing that corresponds to the item includes:
 causing the client device to transmit a request for the update to the URL.   
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein the presenting the item information and the URL of the item listing at the client device includes:
 causing display of an identification of the item information and the URL among a set of items stored at the client device.   
     
     
         17 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
 receiving a search request from a client device, the search request comprising an identification of an item;   retrieving at least a search result from a website based on the identification of the item of the search request, the search result comprising an item listing that includes a Uniform Resource Locator (URL), image data, and item information;   causing display of a presentation of the search result at the client device, the presentation of the search result including a display of the image data at a first location within an interface displayed at the client device;   receiving a user input that selects and drags the display of the image data from the first location within the interface to a second location within the interface;   retrieving the item information of the item listing from the website based on the URL of the item listing, in response to the user input that selects and drags the display of the image data from the first location within the interface to the second location within the interface;   storing the item information of the item listing at a memory location within the client device; and   presenting the item information and the URL of the item listing at the client device in response to the storing the item information of the item listing at the memory location within the client device.   
     
     
         18 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of  claim 18 , wherein the instructions cause the machine to perform operations further comprising:
 receiving a purchase request for the item from the client device;   retrieving an update to the item information of the item listing based on the URL of the item listing that corresponds to the item; and   causing display of a purchase confirmation request at the client device, the purchase confirmation request comprising the update to the item information of the item.   
     
     
         19 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of  claim 18 , wherein the instructions cause the machine to perform operations further comprising:
 receiving an acceptance of the purchase confirmation request from the client device; and   transmitting the purchase request for the item from the client device to a payment server in response to the acceptance of the purchase confirmation request.   
     
     
         20 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of  claim 18 , wherein the item information of the item listing includes a picture that depicts the item that is available for sale, and a price of the item that is available for sale.
