Abstract
A method of manufacturing a tubular woven hose cover includes feeding a plurality of longitudinal yarns into a weaving machine in an axial direction relative to the woven hose cover being made, weaving one or more radial yarns in and out of the plurality of longitudinal yarns in a radial direction relative to the woven hose cover being made, reducing a circumferential length of the one or more radial yarns and thereby generating a first cross-sectional diameter along a first portion of the woven hose cover, and increasing the circumferential length of the one or more radial yarns and thereby generating a second cross-sectional diameter along a second portion of the woven hose cover, wherein the first cross-sectional diameter is smaller than the second cross-sectional diameter.

1 . A method of manufacturing a tubular woven hose cover, comprising:
feeding a plurality of longitudinal yarns into a weaving machine in an axial direction relative to the woven hose cover being made; weaving one or more radial yarns in and out of the plurality of longitudinal yarns in a radial direction relative to the woven hose cover being made; reducing a circumferential length of the one or more radial yarns and thereby generating a first cross-sectional diameter along a first portion of the woven hose cover; and increasing the circumferential length of the one or more radial yarns and thereby generating a second cross-sectional diameter along a second portion of the woven hose cover, wherein the first cross-sectional diameter is smaller than the second cross-sectional diameter.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein reducing the circumferential length of the one or more radial yarns comprises reducing a feed rate of the one or more radial yarns into the weaving machine.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the weaving machine includes a mandrel and the woven hose cover is woven over the mandrel, and wherein reducing the circumferential length of the one or more radial yarns comprises reducing a size of the mandrel.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein reducing the circumferential length of the one or more radial yarns comprises increasing a tension on the one or more radial yarns.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein reducing the circumferential length of the one or more radial yarns comprises and oscillating the one or more radial yarns back and forth and thereby weaving in and out of the plurality of longitudinal yarns.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising bonding one or more wear rings on an outer surface of the woven hose cover at one or both of the first portion and the second portion.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein bonding the one or more wear rings on the outer surface of the woven hose cover includes bonding the one or more wear rings using an activated adhesive composition comprising a bonding component responsive to heat and a microwave radiation absorbing compound intermixed with the bonding component.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising bonding a helical wear strip on an outer surface of the woven hose cover.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein bonding the helical wear strip on the outer surface of the woven hose cover comprises one of extruding the helical wear strip onto the outer surface, and thermally bonding the helical wear strip to the outer surface.
10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising bonding a plurality of wear structures to an outer surface of the woven hose cover.
11 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
extending an inner hose into the woven hose cover; and bonding the inner hose to an inner surface of the woven hose cover.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein bonding the inner hose to the inner surface of the woven hose cover comprises bonding one or more ridges of the inner hose to the inner surface of the woven hose cover.
13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein bonding the inner hose to the inner surface of the woven hose cover comprises:
applying a bonding adhesive to the inner surface of the woven hose cover or an outer surface of the inner hose; and activating the bonding adhesive to bond the inner hose to the woven hose cover.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the bonding adhesive is selected from the group consisting of a bonding patch, a bonding strip, a bonding ring, and any combination thereof.
15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the inner hose is corrugated.
16 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the inner hose is convoluted.
17 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
extending an inner hose into the woven hose cover; bonding the inner hose to an inner surface of the woven hose cover; and bonding a biasing wire coil to an outer surface of the woven hose cover.
18 . The method of claim 1 , preceded by extruding an inner hose around a biasing wire coil, wherein feeding the plurality of longitudinal yarns into the weaving machine and weaving the one or more radial yarns in and out of the plurality of longitudinal yarns further comprises feeding the plurality of longitudinal yarns into the weaving machine and weaving the one or more radial yarns in and out of the plurality of longitudinal yarns over the inner hose and the biasing wire coil.
19 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
weaving the woven hose cover over a biasing wire coil; extending an inner hose into the woven hose cover and the biasing wire coil; and bonding the inner hose to one or both of the woven hose cover and the biasing wire coil.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
