Abstract
A method, system and apparatus for vision correction are disclosed. The method, system and apparatus include a toric intraocular element for correcting astigmatism and having a cylinder power, and a depth of focus extender coupled to the toric intraocular element, the depth of focus extender extending a depth of focus. The extended depth of focus may reduce sensitivity of the toric intraocular element to at least one of rotation and selected cylinder power.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for decreasing sensitivity of astigmatic correction to errors of cylinder power selection and lens rotational alignment, comprising:
receiving a measure of astigmatism; receiving a selection of a toric lens to reduce the astigmatism; receiving a determination of a depth of focus extension for coupling with the selected toric lens; coupling the determined depth of focus extension and the selected toric lens; inserting the coupled depth of focus extension and the selected toric lens in a line of sight.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving historic information about residual astigmatism.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said inserting comprises implanting.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said inserting comprises providing a contact lens.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said inserting comprises surgical corneal modification.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said inserting comprises a combination of implanting and surgical corneal modification.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said inserting comprises providing prescription glasses.
8 . A method of design of an optical element for decreasing the sensitivity of astigmatic correction to errors of cylinder power selection and lens rotational alignment, said method comprising:
measuring astigmatism to be corrected; selecting a toric lens suitable for correcting said measured astigmatism; determining an extended depth of focus to provide at least a tolerance of the decrease of the sensitivity based on the selected toric lens and average rotational alignment; and designing an element having the determined extended depth of focus element for coupling with said toric element.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
