Abstract

An editing method that includes generating, from a material data which is generated according to a first time and in which a first time range is specified, a playback data that is to be played back according to a second time different from the first time; and locating a second time range, which includes the material data within the first time range, in the playback data

What is claimed: 
     
         1 . A video editing system for generating a complete playback data stream from material data converting by a time remapping, the system comprising:
 a time range selector configured to set a time range in a material time axis to select material data to be edited;   a playback data generator configured to convert the selected material data to playback data by subjecting the selected material data to a time remapping, such that the playback data is configured to be played back according to a playback time axis different than the material time axis;   a data relationship analyzer configured to determine and graph interpolation values of key frames of the material data relative to the material time axis and the playback time axis;   a playback data range generator configured to generate a playback range having starting and end position in the playback time axis by identifying intersection points between the set time range and the graphed interpolation values of the key frames;   a playback stream generator configured to select the playback data within the generated playback range to generate the complete playback data stream; and   a user interface configured to display the generated playback data stream.   
     
     
         2 . The video editing system of  claim 1 , further comprising a playback direction determination module configured to determine a playback direction of the generated complete playback data stream by calculating differential values of the identified intersection points in the graphed interpolation values of the key frames of the material data. 
     
     
         3 . The video editing system of  claim 2 , wherein the user interface displays the generated complete playback data stream according to the determined playback direction. 
     
     
         4 . The video editing system of  claim 2 , wherein the playback direction determination module determines the playback direction based on the calculated differential values and calculated second order differential values for each of the identified intersection points. 
     
     
         5 . The video editing system of  claim 1 , wherein the user interface is further configured to display, in conjunction with the generated playback data stream, a playback data timeline corresponding to the playback time axis that indicates the generated playback range corresponding to the generated playback data stream. 
     
     
         6 . The video editing system of  claim 5 , wherein the user interface is further configured to display, in conjunction with the generated playback data stream, a material data timeline corresponding to the material time axis that indicates the set time range for the selected material data. 
     
     
         7 . The video editing system of  claim 6 , further comprising a time range association module that associates the generated playback range for the generated playback data stream with the set time range for the selected material data, wherein the user interface is configured to change a manner of displaying the playback data timeline when the set time range of the selected material data is modified by the time range selector. 
     
     
         8 . The video editing system of  claim 1 , wherein the playback data generator is further configured to convert the selected material data to playback data by subjecting the selected material data to the time remapping, such that the playback data includes reverse playback of the selected material data. 
     
     
         9 . A video editing system for generating a playback data stream from original material data with a different playback rate than the original material data and without missing any video and audio content of the original material data selected to be included in the playback data stream, the system comprising:
 a playback data generator configured to convert selected original material data within a selected time range to playback data having a different playback rate than the selected original material data;   a playback data range generator configured to determine a playback time range for the playback data by tracking intersection points between the selected time range and interpolated values of key frames of the original material data to determine starting and end positions for the playback time range; and   a playback stream generator configured to generate and display on a user interface a playback data stream of the converted playback data within the determined playback time range, such that the generated playback data stream is not missing any of the video and audio data of the original material data within the selected time range.   
     
     
         10 . The video editing system of  claim 9 , further comprising a material data editing selector configured to select the material data to be edited based on the selected time range in a first time axis of the material data. 
     
     
         11 . The video editing system of  claim 10 , further comprising a data relationship analyzer configured to graph the interpolated values of the key frames of the material data relative to the first time axis and a second time axis for the converted playback data, the second time axis being different than the first time axis of the material data. 
     
     
         12 . The video editing system of  claim 11 , wherein the playback data range generator is configured to determine the starting and end positions of the playback range in the second time axis based on the intersection points between the selected time range in the first time axis and the graphed interpolation values of the key frames. 
     
     
         13 . The video editing system of  claim 12 , further comprising a playback direction determination module configured to determine a playback direction of the generated playback data stream by calculating differential values of the intersection points in the graphed interpolation values of the key frames of the material data. 
     
     
         14 . The video editing system of  claim 13 , wherein the user interface displays the generated playback data stream according to the determined playback direction. 
     
     
         15 . The video editing system of  claim 13 , wherein the playback direction determination module determines the playback direction based on the calculated differential values and calculated second order differential values for each of the intersection points. 
     
     
         16 . The video editing system of  claim 11 , wherein the user interface is further configured to display, in conjunction with the generated playback data stream, a playback data timeline corresponding to the second time axis that indicates the determined playback range corresponding to the generated playback data stream. 
     
     
         17 . The video editing system of  claim 16 , wherein the user interface is further configured to display, in conjunction with the generated playback data stream, a material data timeline corresponding to the first time axis that indicates the selected time range for the material data to be edited. 
     
     
         18 . The video editing system of  claim 17 , further comprising a time range association module that associates the determined playback range for the generated playback data stream with the selected time range for the material data to be edited, wherein the user interface is configured to change a manner of displaying the playback data timeline when the selected time range of the material data is modified by the material data editing selector. 
     
     
         19 . The video editing system of  claim 9 , wherein the playback data generator is further configured to convert the selected material data to playback data by a time remapping of the selected material data. 
     
     
         20 . A video editing system for generating a playback data stream from original material data with a different playback rate than the original material data and without missing content of the selected original material data, the system comprising:
 a playback data generator configured to convert a selected original material data range having a first playback rate to a converted playback data stream having a second playback rate different from the first playback rate of the selected original material data range; and   a converted playback data stream generator configured to generate and display on a user interface the converted playback data stream without missing content data from the selected original material data range even though the second playback rate of the converted playback data stream is different from the first playback rate of the selected original material data range.   
     
     
         21 . The video editing system of  claim 20 , further comprising a playback data range generator configured to determine a playback time range for the converted playback data stream by interpolating values of key frames of the original material data to determine starting and end positions for the playback time range, such that the converted playback data stream is displayed on the user interface within the determined playback time range without missing content data from the selected original material data range. 
     
     
         22 . The video editing system of  claim 21 , wherein the playback data range generator is further configured to determine the playback time range by identifying intersection points between the selected original material data range and interpolated values of key frames of the original material data to determine the starting and end positions for the playback time range. 
     
     
         23 . The video editing system of  claim 21 , further comprising a material data editing selector configured to select the original material data for the selected original material data range in a first time axis of the material data. 
     
     
         24 . The video editing system of  claim 23 , further comprising a data relationship analyzer configured to graph the interpolated values of the key frames of the original material data relative to the first time axis and a second time axis for the converted playback data stream. 
     
     
         25 . The video editing system of  claim 24 , wherein the playback data range generator is further configured to determine the starting and end positions of the playback range in the second time axis based on the identified intersection points between the selected original material data range in the first time axis and the graphed interpolation values of the key frames. 
     
     
         26 . The video editing system of  claim 21 , further comprising a playback direction determination module configured to determine a playback direction of the converted playback data stream by calculating differential values of the intersection points in the graphed interpolation values of the key frames of the original material data, wherein the user interface displays the generated playback data stream according to the determined playback direction. 
     
     
         27 . The video editing system of  claim 24 , wherein the user interface is further configured to display, in conjunction with the converted playback data stream, a playback data timeline corresponding to the second time axis that indicates the determined playback range of the converted playback data stream and a material data timeline corresponding to the first time axis that of the selected original material data range. 
     
     
         28 . The video editing system of  claim 21 , further comprising a time range association module that associates the determined playback range for the converted playback data stream with the selected original material data range, wherein the user interface is configured to change a manner of displaying a playback data timeline for the converted playback data stream when a time range of the selected original material data range is modified by the material data editing selector. 
     
     
         29 . The video editing system of  claim 20 , wherein the converted playback data stream generator is further configured to convert the selected original material data range to the converted playback data stream by a time remapping of the selected original material data range. 
     
     
         30 . A video editing system for generating a playback data stream from original material data with a different playback rate than the original material data and without missing content of the selected original material data, the system comprising:
 a playback data stream converter configured to convert a selected original material data range having a first playback rate to a converted playback data stream having a second playback rate;   wherein the second playback rate of the converted playback data stream is different from the first playback rate of the selected original material data range; and   wherein the playback data stream converter is configured to generate and display on a user interface the converted playback data stream substantially without missing content data from the selected original material data range even though the second playback rate of the converted playback data stream is different from the first playback rate of the selected original material data range.   
     
     
         31 . The video editing system of  claim 30 , further comprising a playback data range generator configured to determine a playback time range for the converted playback data stream by interpolating values of key frames of the original material data to determine starting and end positions for the playback time range, such that the converted playback data stream is displayed on the user interface within the determined playback time range without missing content data from the selected original material data range. 
     
     
         32 . The video editing system of  claim 31 , wherein the playback data range generator is further configured to determine the playback time range by identifying intersection points between the selected original material data range and interpolated values of key frames of the original material data to determine the starting and end positions for the playback time range. 
     
     
         33 . The video editing system of  claim 31 , further comprising a material data editing selector configured to select original material data for the selected original material data range in a first time axis of the material data. 
     
     
         34 . The video editing system of  claim 32 , further comprising a data relationship analyzer configured to graph the interpolated values of the key frames of the selected original material data relative to the first time axis and a second time axis corresponding to the converted playback data stream. 
     
     
         35 . The video editing system of  claim 34 , wherein the playback data range generator is further configured to determine the starting and end positions of the playback range in the second time axis based on the identified intersection points between the selected original material data range in the first time axis and the graphed interpolation values of the key frames. 
     
     
         36 . The video editing system of  claim 31 , further comprising a playback direction determination module configured to determine a playback direction of the converted playback data stream by calculating differential values of the interpolation values of the key frames of the original material data, wherein the user interface displays the generated playback data stream according to the determined playback direction. 
     
     
         37 . The video editing system of  claim 34 , wherein the user interface is further configured to display, in conjunction with the converted playback data stream, a playback data timeline corresponding to the second time axis that indicates the determined playback range of the converted playback data stream and a material data timeline corresponding to the first time axis that of the selected original material data range. 
     
     
         38 . The video editing system of  claim 33 , further comprising a time range association module that associates the determined playback range for the converted playback data stream with the selected original material data range, wherein the user interface is configured to change a manner of displaying a playback data timeline for the converted playback data stream when a time range of the selected original material data range is modified by the material data editing selector. 
     
     
         39 . The video editing system of  claim 30 , wherein the playback data stream converter is further configured to convert the selected original material data range to the converted playback data stream by a time remapping of the selected original material data range.
