Abstract
Provided is a tick trap having a glue constructed to trap ticks touching the glue by sticking to the ticks, and a plant based scent formed from a part of a plant that attracts ticks to the glue. The tick trap can be used to trap ticks within a dwelling or in the environment.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A tick trap comprising:
a support; a glue on the support, the glue is constructed to trap ticks touching the glue by sticking to the ticks; and a tick attractant comprising a plant based scent that attracts ticks to the glue, wherein the plant based scent is formed from a part of a plant, and the tick attractant is incorporated into the glue or is in contact with the glue.
. The tick trap according to claim 1 , wherein the support comprises a housing defining a chamber and having an opening for ticks to enter the chamber, the glue being disposed in the chamber.
. The tick trap according to claim 1 , wherein the support is substantially flat and has the glue on a surface of the support.
. The tick trap according to claim 3 , wherein the support is constructed to be folded to form a housing defining a chamber and having an opening for ticks to enter the chamber, the glue being disposed in the chamber.
. A tick trap comprising:
a support; a glue on the support, the glue is constructed to trap ticks touching the glue by sticking to the ticks; and a tick attractant comprising a plant based scent that attracts ticks to the glue, wherein the plant based scent is formed from a part of at least one of a basil plant, a cedar tree, or an apple tree.
. The tick trap according to claim 5 , wherein the plant based scent comprises an essential oil from the at least one of the basil plant, cedar tree or apple tree.
. The tick trap according to claim 5 , wherein the plant based scent comprises an extract from the part of the at least one of the basil plant, cedar tree or apple tree.
. The tick trap according to claim 5 , wherein the plant based scent is formed from a part of an apple tree.
. The tick trap according to claim 8 , wherein the apple tree is a crab apple tree.
. The tick trap according to claim 5 , wherein the plant based scent is formed from a part of a basil plant.
. The tick trap according to claim 10 , wherein the plant based scent comprises an essential oil of basil.
. (canceled)
. (canceled)
. The tick trap according to claim 5 , further comprising a housing having at least one opening and wherein the glue is in the form of a replaceable glue trap that can be inserted into a bottom of the housing and removed from the housing.
. The tick trap according to claim 5 , wherein the support is formed from a biodegradable material.
. The tick trap according to claim 15 , wherein the biodegradable material comprises cellulose.
. The tick trap according to claim 16 , wherein the biodegradable material contains a water resistant coating so that the trap can be utilized in the environment for at least a week before degrading.
. The tick trap according to claim 5 , wherein the trap is free of ingredients that are toxic, poisonous, or harmful to humans or mammals.
- 30 . (canceled)
. A tick trap comprising:
a support constructed to be folded by a user to form a housing having at least one side opening and inside surfaces of the housing defining a protective enclosure, when the support is in folded form the housing has a bottom inside surface at a bottom of the housing; a glue on at least the bottom inside surface, the glue is constructed to trap ticks touching the glue by sticking to the ticks, wherein when the support is in folded form ticks can walk through the at least one side opening directly into the protective enclosure and contact the glue at the bottom of the housing, and a tick attractant comprising a plant based scent that attracts ticks to the glue, wherein the plant based scent is formed from a part of a plant, and wherein the tick attractant is incorporated into the glue, is on the glue, is on at least one of the inside surfaces, or is in a separate package to be installed onto the glue or support by a user.
. The tick trap according to claim 31 , wherein the support is substantially flat prior to folding by the user.
. The tick trap according to claim 31 , wherein the tick attractant is a in a separate package to be opened by the user.
. The tick trap according to claim 31 , wherein the plant based scent is formed from a part of at least one of a basil plant, a cedar tree, or an apple tree.
. The tick trap according to claim 31 , wherein the plant based scent comprises an essential oil from the at least one of the basil plant, cedar tree or apple tree.
. The tick trap according to claim 31 , wherein the plant based scent comprises an extract from the part of the at least one of the basil plant, cedar tree or apple tree.
. The tick trap according to claim 31 , wherein the plant based scent is formed from a part of an apple tree.
. The tick trap according to claim 37 , wherein the plant based scent is formed from a part of a basil plant.
. The tick trap according to claim 31 , wherein the support is formed from a biodegradable material.
. The tick trap according to claim 39 , wherein the biodegradable material contains a water resistant coating so that the trap can be utilized in the environment for at least a week before degrading.
. The tick trap according to claim 31 , wherein the trap is free of ingredients that are toxic, poisonous, or harmful to humans or mammals.
. A tick trap comprising:
a housing having at least one side opening and inside surfaces of the housing defining a protective enclosure; a removable support constructed to be disposed at a bottom of the housing; a glue on the removable support, the glue is constructed to trap ticks touching the glue by sticking to the ticks, wherein when the removable support having the glue thereon is disposed at the bottom of the housing ticks can walk through the at least one side opening directly into the protective enclosure and contact the glue at the bottom of the housing, and a tick attractant comprising a plant based scent that attracts ticks to the glue, wherein the plant based scent is formed from a part of a plant, and wherein the tick attractant is incorporated into the glue or is in a separate package to be installed onto the glue or housing by a user.
. The tick trap according to claim 42 , wherein the plant based scent is formed from a part of at least one of a basil plant, a cedar tree, or an apple tree.
. The tick trap according to claim 42 , wherein the plant based scent comprises an essential oil from the at least one of the basil plant, cedar tree or apple tree.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
