Abstract
A spinal construct includes a coupling member including a first mating surface engageable with an existing fastener implant. The existing fastener implant defines a cavity configured for disposal of an existing spinal rod implant. A connector is engageable with the existing fastener implant and has a rod extending therefrom. A locking member is engageable with a second mating surface of the coupling member. Systems, surgical instruments, implants and methods are disclosed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A spinal construct comprising:
a coupling member including a first mating surface engageable with an existing fastener implant, the existing fastener implant defining a cavity configured for disposal of an existing spinal rod implant; a connector engageable with the existing fastener implant and capable of having a rod extending therefrom; and a locking member engageable with a second mating surface of the coupling member.
2 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the first mating surface includes a first thread and the second mating surface includes a second thread.
3 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the coupling member includes a flange disposed between the first mating surface having a first thread and the second mating surface having a second thread.
4 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the coupling member includes a break off portion.
5 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the coupling member includes a first set screw having the first mating surface and a second set screw having the second mating surface.
6 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 5 , wherein the first mating surface includes a first thread and the second mating surface includes a second thread.
7 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 5 , wherein the first set screw defines a cavity configured for disposal of a stem of the second set screw.
8 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the connector includes a receiver that defines a cavity for disposal of the rod.
9 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 8 , wherein the receiver is rotatable relative to the connector.
10 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 8 , wherein the receiver is rotatable relative to the connector and includes a spline surface engageable with a spline surface of the connector to fix the rod in a selected orientation.
11 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the connector includes a receiver that defines a cavity for disposal of the rod and is rotatable to selectively dispose the rod in a coronal plane.
12 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the connector includes a receiver that defines a cavity for disposal of the rod and is rotatable to selectively dispose the rod in a sagittal plane.
13 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the connector includes an inner surface that defines a cavity for disposal of a receiver of the existing fastener implant.
14 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the connector is rotatable to dispose the rod at a selected angular orientation relative to the existing spinal rod implant.
15 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the connector includes at least one hook configured to capture the existing spinal rod implant.
16 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the locking member includes a nut engageable with the connector.
17 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the locking member includes a break off portion.
18 . A spinal construct as recited in claim 1 , wherein the locking member comprises a threaded surface of the connector.
19 . A spinal construct comprising:
a setscrew including a first thread and a second, different thread, the first thread being engageable with a receiver of an existing MAS implant, the implant receiver being configured for disposal of an existing spinal rod implant; a connector including an inner surface that defines a cavity configured for disposal of the implant receiver and a rod receiver; and a locking member engageable with the second thread.
20 . A spinal construct comprising:
a coupling member including a first mating surface engageable with an existing fastener implant, the existing fastener implant defining a cavity configured for disposal of an existing spinal rod implant; a connector engageable with the existing fastener implant and including a receiver that defines a cavity for disposal of a rod, the receiver being rotatable relative to the connector to selectively dispose the rod relative to the existing spinal rod implant; and a locking member engageable with a second mating surface of the coupling member.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
