Abstract

A carrying case ( 20 ) is provided that includes a first portion ( 22 ) having a first inner surface ( 42 ) and a first outer surface ( 34 ). The carrying case also includes a second portion ( 24 ) having a second inner ( 58 ) surface, a second outer surface ( 36 ), and a pocket ( 68 ) located between the second inner surface and the second outer surface. An item located in the pocket can be viewed and manipulated from the second outer surface.

         10 ) A method for forming a carrying case, comprising:
 forming a continuous first portion including a first inner surface and a first outer surface;   forming a second portion including a second inner surface, a second outer surface, the second portion connected to the first portion at at least one edge of the first portion; and   forming a pocket located between the second inner surface and the second outer surface such that the second inner surface and second outer surface are at least partially formed of different materials,   wherein the pocket is adapted to receive an item that can be viewed and manipulated from the second outer surface, and   wherein the carrying case includes a case zipper that is moveable between an open position and a closed position, and when the case zipper is in the closed position, the first inner surface and the second inner surface are kept dry when the carrying case is exposed to moisture,   wherein the carrying case is waterproof and floats.   
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the pocket is formed to include a pocket zipper and when the pocket zipper is in a closed position, the pocket is kept dry when the carrying case is exposed to moisture regardless of the position of the case zipper. 
     
     
         12 ) The method of  claim 10 , including forming the second outer surface to include a window so that the item in the pocket can be viewed and manipulated from the second outer surface. 
     
     
         13 ) The method of  claim 10 , including forming the first inner surface to include one or more slits for holding one or more cards. 
     
     
         14 ) The method of  claim 10 , including forming the second inner surface to include one or more slits for holding one or more cards. 
     
     
         15 ) The method of  claim 13 , including forming the first inner surface to include one or more holders for holding one or more items.

         25 ) The method of  claim 24 , wherein the lightweight material is a polyester webbing.
