Abstract

A consumer may initiate a transaction using a transaction account. The transaction account issuer may transmit a notification to the consumer that the transaction has been authorized. The consumer may select requestees with whom to split the transaction. The transaction account issuer may transmit instructions via APIs to peer-to-peer payment systems to request payment from the requestees. The peer-to-peer payment systems may transfer the payment to the transaction account issuer, and the transaction account issuer may apply to payment to the consumer's transaction account.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A method comprising:
 authorizing, by a computer-based system, a transaction for a transaction account of a requestor; transmitting, by the computer-based system, a notification to the requestor regarding the transaction; receiving, by the computer-based system and from the requestor, a request to split the transaction with a first requestee; determining, by the computer-based system, that the first requestee has an account with a first peer-to-peer payment system; transmitting, by the computer-based system, a first funds transfer request to the first peer-to-peer payment system; receiving, by the computer-based system and from the first peer-to-peer payment system a payment for the first funds transfer request; and applying, by the computer-based system, the payment to the transaction account.

         2 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the computer-based system and from the requestor, a request to split the transaction with a second requestee;
 determining, by the computer-based system, that the second requestee has an account with a second peer-to-peer payment system; and transmitting, by the computer-based system, a second funds transfer request to the second peer-to-peer payment system.

         3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising creating, by the computer-based system, a temporary account with the first peer-to-peer payment system.

         4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the first peer-to-peer payment system transfers the payment to the temporary account.

         5 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising transferring, by the computer-based system, the payment from the temporary account to the transaction account.

         6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising calculating, by the computer-based system, an even split of the transaction between the requestor and a plurality of requestees including the first requestee.

         7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying, by the computer-based system, an indication that the first requestee has completed the first funds transfer request.

         8 . An article of manufacture including a non-transitory, tangible computer readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by a computer-based system, cause the computer-based system to perform operations comprising:
 authorizing, by the computer-based system, a transaction for a transaction account of a requestor; transmitting, by the computer-based system, a notification to the requestor regarding the transaction; receiving, by the computer-based system and from the requestor, a request to split the transaction with a first requestee; determining, by the computer-based system, that the first requestee has an account with a first peer-to-peer payment system; transmitting, by the computer-based system, a first funds transfer request to the first peer-to-peer payment system; receiving, by the computer-based system and from the first peer-to-peer payment system a payment for the first funds transfer request; and applying, by the computer-based system, the payment to the transaction account.

         9 . The article of manufacture of  claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving, by the computer-based system and from the requestor, a request to split the transaction with a second requestee;
 determining, by the computer-based system, that the second requestee has an account with a second peer-to-peer payment system; and transmitting, by the computer-based system, a second funds transfer request to the second peer-to-peer payment system.

         10 . The article of manufacture of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise creating, by the computer-based system, a temporary account with the first peer-to-peer payment system.

         11 . The article of manufacture of claim 10 , wherein the first peer-to-peer payment system is configured to transfer the payment to the temporary account.

         12 . The article of manufacture of claim 11 , wherein the operations further comprise transferring, by the computer-based system, the payment from the temporary account to the transaction account.

         13 . The article of manufacture of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise calculating, by the computer-based system, an even split of the transaction between the requestor and a plurality of requestees including the first requestee.

         14 . The article of manufacture of claim 8 , wherein the operations further comprise displaying, by the computer-based system, an indication that the first requestee has completed the first funds transfer request.

         15 . A system comprising:
 a processor; a tangible, non-transitory memory configured to communicate with the processor; the tangible, non-transitory memory having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
 authorizing, by the processor, a transaction for a transaction account of a requestor;
 transmitting, by the processor, a notification to the requestor regarding the transaction;
 receiving, by the processor and from the requestor, a request to split the transaction with a first requestee;
 determining, by the processor, that the first requestee has an account with a first peer-to-peer payment system;
 transmitting, by the processor, a first funds transfer request to the first peer-to-peer payment system;
 receiving, by the processor and from the first peer-to-peer payment system a payment for the first funds transfer request; and
 applying, by the processor, the payment to the transaction account.

         16 . The system of  claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving, by the processor and from the requestor, a request to split the transaction with a second requestee;
 determining, by the processor, that the second requestee has an account with a second peer-to-peer payment system; and transmitting, by the processor, a second funds transfer request to the second peer-to-peer payment system.

         17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise creating, by the processor, a temporary account with the first peer-to-peer payment system.

         18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein the first peer-to-peer payment system is configured to transfer the payment to the temporary account.

         19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the operations further comprise transferring, by the processor, the payment from the temporary account to the transaction account.

         20 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise calculating, by the processor, an even split of the transaction between the requestor and a plurality of requestees including the first requestee.
