Abstract
Disclosed herein are customizable overlay systems that can be used indoors or outdoors. In an aspect, a disclosed overlay system can be used to provide a variety of athletic playing surfaces. Disclosed herein are methods of installing a disclosed customizable overlay system.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A binder-based overlay system, comprising:
a layer of geotextile fabric; a primer layer adhered to the layer of geotextile fabric; one or more binder layers adhered to the primer layer; a resurfacer layer; two or more color layers; and playing lines.
2 . The overlay system of claim 1 , comprising a layer of seaming material adhered to the layer of geotextile fabric.
3 . The overlay system of claim 1 , wherein the layer of geotextile fabric comprise two or more pieces of geotextile fabric seamed together.
4 . The overlay system of claim 3 , comprising fiberglass mesh over the seam of the geotextile fabric.
5 . The overlay system of claim 1 , wherein the layer of geotextile fabric is partially adhered or substantially adhered to a substrate.
6 . The overlay system of claim 1 , wherein the layer of geotextile fabric is positioned over a substrate and is not adhered to the substrate.
7 . The overlay system of claim 1 , wherein the binder layer comprises styrene acrylic.
8 . The overlay system of claim 7 , wherein the binder layer comprise sand, rubber, rubber alternative, or a combination thereof.
9 . The overlay system of claim 8 , wherein the binder layer comprises concrete, water, or both.
10 . The overlay system of claim 1 , wherein each of the one or more of the binder layers differs from one another.
11 . A method of installing a binder-based overlay system, comprising:
contacting a layer of geotextile fabric to a surface of a substrate; applying a primer layer to a surface of the geotextile fabric; adding one or more binder layers; applying a resurfacer layer; applying two or more color layers; and providing playing lines on the surface of the overlay.
12 . The method of claim 11 , comprising correcting one or more deformations in the substrate.
13 . The method of claim 11 , comprising preparing one or more binder layers.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein each of the one or more binder layers differ from one another.
15 . The method of claim 11 , comprising seaming two or more pieces of geotextile fabric together to create a layer of seamed geotextile fabric.
16 . The method of claim 15 , comprising applying fiberglass mesh to the top of the seamed geotextile fabric.
17 . The method of claim 15 , comprising partially adhering or substantially adhering the layer of seamed geotextile fabric to the substrate.
18 . The method of claim 15 , wherein seaming two or more pieces of geotextile fabric together comprises inserting a seaming material under the edges of two adjacent pieces of geotextile fabric; applying an adhesive to the top surface of the seaming material; contacting the two adjacent pieces of geotextile fabric with the adhesive; applying pressure to the seam of the two adjacent pieces of geotextile fabric to create the layer of seamed geotextile fabric.
19 . The method of claim 15 , wherein seaming two or more pieces of geotextile fabric together comprises inserting a self-adhesive seaming material under the edges of two adjacent pieces of geotextile fabric; and applying pressure to the seam of the two adjacent pieces of geotextile fabric to create the layer of seamed geotextile fabric.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
