Abstract
For a mapping application, a method for reporting a problem related to a map displayed by the mapping application is described. The method identifies a mode in which the mapping application is operating. The method identifies a set of types of problems to report based on the identified mode. The method displays, in a display area of the mapping application, a graphical user interface (GUI) page that includes a set of selectable user interface (UI) items that represent the identified set of types of problems.

2 . A method performed by a mobile device, the method comprising:
identifying a route between a starting location and a destination location, the route comprising a first maneuver and a second maneuver; in response to a request to start navigating the identified route, presenting a graphical user interface that includes a first display area for presenting textual navigation instructions and a second display area for presenting a map, including:
presenting in the first display area a first textual navigation instruction that describes the first maneuver of the route, and
presenting in the second display area a first map region corresponding to the first maneuver described in the first display area;
receiving, through a display of the mobile device, touch input with respect to the first display area; and in response to the touch input:
presenting in the first display area a second textual navigation instruction that describes the second maneuver of the route, and
presenting in the second display area a second map region corresponding to the second maneuver described in the first display area.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein receiving the touch input comprises detecting a tap touch gesture with respect to the first display area on the display of the mobile device.
4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein receiving the touch input comprises detecting a swipe touch gesture with respect to the first display area on the display of the mobile device.
5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the second display area includes a map drawing of a portion of the route corresponding to a particular maneuver represented in the first display area.
6 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the second maneuver is different than the first maneuver and the second map region is different than the first map region.
7 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
presenting in the first display area a directional arrow illustrating the particular maneuver described by the textual navigation instructions presented in the first display area.
8 . A non-transitory computer readable medium including one or more sequences of instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the processors to perform operations comprising:
identifying a route between a starting location and a destination location, the route comprising a first maneuver and a second maneuver; in response to a request to start navigating the identified route, presenting a graphical user interface that includes a first display area for presenting textual navigation instructions and a second display area for presenting a map, including:
presenting in the first display area a first textual navigation instruction that describes the first maneuver of the route, and
presenting in the second display area a first map region corresponding to the first maneuver described in the first display area;
receiving, through a display of the mobile device, touch input with respect to the first display area; and in response to the touch input:
presenting in the first display area a second textual navigation instruction that describes the second maneuver of the route, and
presenting in the second display area a second map region corresponding to the second maneuver described in the first display area.
9 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein receiving the touch input comprises detecting a tap touch gesture with respect to the first display area on the display of the mobile device.
10 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein receiving the touch input comprises detecting a swipe touch gesture with respect to the first display area on the display of the mobile device.
11 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the second display area includes a map drawing of a portion of the route corresponding to a particular maneuver represented in the first display area.
12 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the second maneuver is different than the first maneuver and the second map region is different than the first map region.
13 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , further comprising:
presenting in the first display area a directional arrow illustrating the particular maneuver described by the textual navigation instructions presented in the first display area.
14 . A system comprising:
one or more processors; and a non-transitory computer readable medium including one or more sequences of instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the processors to perform operations comprising:
identifying a route between a starting location and a destination location, the route comprising a first maneuver and a second maneuver;
in response to a request to start navigating the identified route, presenting a graphical user interface that includes a first display area for presenting textual navigation instructions and a second display area for presenting a map, including:
presenting in the first display area a first textual navigation instruction that describes the first maneuver of the route, and
presenting in the second display area a first map region corresponding to the first maneuver described in the first display area;
receiving, through a display of the mobile device, touch input with respect to the first display area; and
in response to the touch input:
presenting in the first display area a second textual navigation instruction that describes the second maneuver of the route, and
presenting in the second display area a second map region corresponding to the second maneuver described in the first display area.
15 . The system of claim 14 , wherein receiving the touch input comprises detecting a tap touch gesture with respect to the first display area on the display of the mobile device.
16 . The system of claim 14 , wherein receiving the touch input comprises detecting a swipe touch gesture with respect to the first display area on the display of the mobile device.
17 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the second display area includes a map drawing of a portion of the route corresponding to a particular maneuver represented in the first display area.
18 . The system of claim 14 , wherein the second maneuver is different than the first maneuver and the second map region is different than the first map region.
19 . The system of claim 14 , further comprising:
