Abstract
A display unit includes: a display layer including a pixel electrode; a semiconductor layer provided in a layer below the display layer, the semiconductor layer including a wiring layer that includes a material removable by an etchant by which the pixel electrode is also removable; and a terminal section configured to electrically connect the semiconductor layer to an external circuit, the terminal section including a first electrically-conductive layer made of a material same as a material of the wiring layer.

1 . A display unit comprising a display section and a terminal section;
the display section comprising:
a plastic substrate;
a semiconductor layer including a wiring layer disposed on the substrate; and
a display layer including a pixel electrode disposed on the semiconductor layer;
the terminal section configured to electrically connect the semiconductor layer to an external circuit; the terminal section comprising:
the plastic substrate; and
a first electrically-conductive layer disposed on the plastic substrate;
wherein the wiring layer includes a first material, wherein the first electrically-conductive layer includes a second material, wherein the first material and the second material have the same etching characteristics, and wherein the pixel electrode includes a third material.
2 . The display unit according to claim 1 , wherein the first material and the second material are the same material.
3 . The display unit according to claim 2 , wherein the first material and the second material are Al.
4 . The display unit according to claim 1 , wherein the first electrically-conductive layer is formed in a same step as forming the wiring layer.
5 . The display unit according to claim 1 , wherein the wiring layer is directly connected to the pixel electrode.
6 . The display unit according to claim 1 , wherein the third material is a transparent electrically-conductive material.
7 . The display unit according to claim 1 , wherein the pixel electrode further comprises a fourth material that is silver or a silver alloy.
8 . The display unit according to claim 1 , wherein the display layer further comprises a first insulating layer disposed on the pixel electrode, and the terminal section further comprises a second insulating layer disposed on the first electrically-conductive layer.
9 . The display unit according to claim 8 , wherein the first insulating layer includes a fourth material, and the second insulating layer includes a fifth material, and the fourth material and the fifth material are the same material.
10 . The display unit according to claim 7 , wherein the first insulating layer and the second insulating layer are the same layer.
11 . The display unit according to claim 1 , wherein the terminal section further includes a protective film that, in a cross-sectional view, covers side surfaces and a part of a top surface of the first electrically-conductive layer.
12 . A display unit comprising a display section and a terminal section:
the display section comprising:
a plastic substrate;
a semiconductor layer including a wiring layer disposed on the substrate; and
a display layer including a pixel electrode disposed on the semiconductor layer;
the terminal section configured to electrically connect the semiconductor layer to an external circuit; the terminal section comprising:
the plastic substrate; and
a first electrically-conductive layer disposed on the plastic substrate;
wherein the wiring layer and the first electrically-conductive layer have a laminated structure including at least a first layer and a second layer, and wherein the pixel electrode has a laminated structure including a third layer and a fourth layer.
13 . The display unit according to claim 12 , wherein the first layer and the second layer are made of different materials having different etching characteristics.
14 . The display unit according to claim 13 , wherein the first layer includes Ti and the second layer includes Al.
15 . The display unit according to claim 12 , wherein the third layer includes ITO, and the fourth layer includes silver or a silver alloy.
16 . The display unit according to claim 12 , wherein the display layer further comprises a first insulating layer disposed on the pixel electrode, and the terminal section further comprises a second insulating layer disposed on the first electrically-conductive layer.
17 . The display unit according to claim 16 , wherein the first insulating layer includes a fourth material and the second insulating layer includes a fifth material, and the fourth material and the fifth material are the same material.
18 . The display unit according to claim 12 , wherein the terminal section further includes a second electrically-conductive layer formed on the first electrically-conductive layer, and the second electrically-conductive layer includes the same laminated structure as the pixel electrode including the third layer and the fourth layer.
19 . The display unit according to claim 18 , wherein in the second electrically-conductive layer of the terminal section, a portion of the fourth layer is removed to expose a portion of the third layer.
20 . The display unit according to claim 19 , wherein in the second electrically-conductive layer of the terminal section, the third layer, in a cross-sectional view, covers side surfaces and a part of a top surface of the first electrically-conductive layer.
