Playback device

Abstract

A client ( 1 ) is provisioned with a content selection unit ( 13 ) for referencing description information ( 26 ), selecting content to be played in a certain period, and at the same time, and selecting content to be played at the next period from an id of a subset that is the same as the subset selected at the period, a request execution unit ( 14 ) for requesting the transmission of the selected content, and a content playback unit ( 15 ) for continuously playing the content transmitted in response to the request.

         2 . A playback device that obtains and plays content selected after referencing, based on URL, Media Presentation Description (MPD) including information representing acquirable content per each of a plurality of periods,
 the MPD including, per each of the plurality of periods, a plurality of first elements and identification information,   the first elements each including a second element representing content and being in a higher order than the second element,   the identification information identifying one of the plurality of first elements which one corresponds to content selected at a certain period and which one is at a period to be played next to the certain period,   the playback device comprising:   selection circuitry configured to analyze the identification information included in the MPD and select, per each of the plurality of periods, one of the first elements in accordance with the identification information;   acquisition circuitry configured to acquire content represented by the second element included in one of the plurality of first elements which one is selected by the selection circuitry; and   playback circuitry configured to play the content acquired by the acquisition circuitry,   the URL including analysis range identification information which specifies the identification information, and   the selection circuitry selecting one of the plurality of first elements which one is identified by the identification information with a value equal to a value of the analysis range identification information.   
     
     
         3 . The playback device according to  claim 2 , wherein
 in a case where there is content having continuity between one of the plurality of periods and subsequent one of the plurality of periods, one of the plurality of first elements in said one period and one of the plurality of first elements in said subsequent period both correspond to said content having continuity, and are both assigned the identification information with an identical value,   the selection circuitry analyzes the identification information and selects, per each of the plurality of periods, one of the plurality of first elements in accordance with the identification information, and   the acquisition circuitry acquires content which is represented by the second element included in one of the plurality of first elements selected by the selection circuitry and which content has continuity between said one period and said subsequent period.
