Setting method and setting apparatus of image forming apparatus

Abstract

In accordance with one embodiment, a setting method of an image forming apparatus including displaying character codes that the image forming apparatus supports in a case where the import of data to the image forming apparatus is instructed; receiving a selection of the character code of the data to be imported to the image forming apparatus from the displayed character codes; and importing, if the character code of the data to be imported is selected, the data to the image forming apparatus in the selected character code.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A setting method of an image forming apparatus, comprising:
 receiving a choice on whether or not to determine a character code of data to be imported to the image forming apparatus;   if determining the character code of the data to be imported to the image forming apparatus is selected, determining the character code of the data to be imported, displaying, together with the determined character code of the data to be imported, a first button that instructs the character code to change, and a second button that instructs the character code not to change, displaying, in response to selecting the first button, a character code that is linked to a language code supported by the image forming apparatus, and, receiving, in response to selecting the second button, the character code of the determined data to be imported;   displaying, if selecting not to determine the character code of the data to be imported to the image forming apparatus, the character code linked to the language code supported by the image forming apparatus;   receiving a selection of the character code of the data to be imported to the image forming apparatus; and importing, if the character code of the data to be imported is selected, the data to the image forming apparatus in the selected character code.   
     
     
         2 . The setting method of an image forming apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the choices of the character code present a list of the character codes that can be selected by the user. 
     
     
         3 . The setting method of an image forming apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 displaying information relating to language data that the image forming apparatus supports in the choices.   
     
     
         4 . The setting method of an image forming apparatus according to  claim 3 , wherein the character code according to a default language setting is set in the image forming apparatus as an initial value. 
     
     
         5 . A setting apparatus of an image forming apparatus, comprising:
 a display;   an operation panel;   a first memory configured to store a command; and   a processor configured to execute the command stored in the memory, wherein the processor   receives from the operation panel a choice on whether or not to determine a character code of data to be imported to the image forming apparatus;   if the operation panel selects determining the character code of the data to be imported to the image forming apparatus, determines the character code of the data to be imported, displays, together with the determined character code of the data to be imported, a first button that instructs the character code to change, and a second button that instructs the character code not to change, displays, in response to selecting the first button, a character code that is linked to a language code supported by the image forming apparatus, and, receives, in response to selecting the second button, the character code of the determined data to be imported;   displays, if the operation panel selects not to determine the character code of the data to be imported to the image forming apparatus, the character code linked to the language code supported by the image forming apparatus;   receives a selection of the character code of the data to be imported to the image forming apparatus; and imports, if the character code of the data to be imported is selected, the data to the image forming apparatus in the selected character code.   
     
     
         6 . The setting apparatus of an image forming apparatus according to  claim 5 , wherein the choices of the character code present a list of the character codes that can be selected by the user. 
     
     
         7 . The setting apparatus of an image forming apparatus according to  claim 5 , the processor further displays information relating to language data that the image forming apparatus supports in the choices. 
     
     
         8 . The setting apparatus of an image forming apparatus according to  claim 7 , wherein the character code according to a default language setting is set in the image forming apparatus as an initial value.
