Abstract

A click operation is input in a first step, whether or not the target address thereof is an asf file or an m3u file, which are listening contents files, is judged in a second step, and in the event that this is true, in a third step the target file is played without being downloaded. In the event that the target is a different type of file, whether or not the target address thereof is a wma file or an mp3 file, which are downloadable contents files, is judged in a fourth step, and in the event that this is true, in a fifth step the target file is downloaded. In the event that the target is a different type of file, Web browsing is performed in a sixth step, and the processing ends. Thus, contents can be downloaded or samples thereof listened to with a simple operation.

 processor configured to:
 provide content management information relating to displaying of a content data distribution service website displayed on an information processing apparatus, the content management information including a web link of the content data distribution service website for displaying a webpage within a predetermined display area of the information processing apparatus, 
 receive a content selection from the information processing apparatus based on the content data distribution service website, and 
 in response to the content selection corresponding to a second data format from amongst a first data format and a second data format, transmit the selected content data for download to the information processing apparatus 
   
     
     
         3 . The information processing server according to  claim 2 , wherein the selected content data is designated as to be purchased by a user. 
     
     
         4 . The information processing server according to  claim 3 , wherein contents purchased and transmitted are displayed together in a group on the display of the information processing apparatus.

 wherein the circuitry is configured to transmit information relating to selected content data.   
     
     
         6 . The information processing server according to  claim 5 , wherein the information relating to the selected content data includes metadata and access restrictions related to the selected content data.

The information processing server according to  claim 2 , wherein the circuitry is further configured to transmit a verification key to the information processing apparatus for a mutual verification between the information processing apparatus and the information processing server. 
     
     
         8 . The information processing server according to  claim 2 , wherein the circuitry is configured to
 receive an instruction to transmit the selected content data,   transmit the selected content data, and   transmit a command to a content player within the information processing apparatus to import the downloaded selected content data into a play list in response to the selected content data being downloaded.

The information processing server according to  claim 2 , wherein the circuitry is configured to transmit, via a network, file data to play the selected content data without downloading the selected content data using a content player of the information processing apparatus, in response to the selected content data corresponding to the first data format. 
     
     
         10 . The information processing server according to  claim 2 , wherein the first data format and the second data format are types of digital data compression formats. 
     
     
         11 . A content data distribution method comprising:
 providing content management information relating to displaying of a content data distribution service website displayed on an information processing apparatus, the content management information including a web link of the content data distribution service website for displaying a webpage within a predetermined display area of the information processing apparatus,   receiving a content selection from the information processing apparatus based on the content data distribution service website, and   in response to the content selection corresponding to a second data format from amongst a first data format and a second data format, transmitting the selected content data for download, to the information processing apparatus.   
     
     
         12 . The information processing method according to  claim 11 , further comprising:
 transmitting information relating to selected content data.   
     
     
         13 . The information processing method according to  claim 12 , wherein the information relating to the selected content data includes metadata and access restrictions related to the selected content data. 
     
     
         14 . The information processing method according to  claim 11 , further comprising:
 transmitting a verification key to the information processing apparatus for a mutual verification between an information processing apparatus and an information processing server.   
     
     
         15 . The information processing method according to  claim 11 , further comprising:
 receiving an instruction to transmit the selected content data,   transmitting the selected content data, and   transmitting a command to a content player within the information processing apparatus to import the downloaded selected content data into a play list in response to the selected content data being downloaded.   
     
     
         16 . The information processing method according to  claim 11 , further comprising:
 transmitting, via a network, file data to play the selected content data without downloading the selected content data using a content player of the information processing apparatus, in response to the selected content data corresponding to the first data format.   
     
     
         17 . The information processing method according to  claim 11 , the first data format and the second data format being types of digital data compression formats. 
     
     
         18 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium ended with instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method for receiving distributed content data from a server via a network, the method comprising:
 providing content management information relating to displaying of a content data distribution service website displayed on an information processing apparatus, the content management information including a web link of the content data distribution service website for displaying a webpage within a predetermined display area of the information processing apparatus,   receiving a content selection from the information processing apparatus based on the content data distribution service website, and   in response to the content selection corresponding to a second data format from amongst a first data format and a second data format, transmitting the selected content data for download, to the information processing apparatus.
