Systems and methods for providing context to customer activity through a visual representation
Abstract
A system and method provide context to customer activity through a visual representation, in one implementation, a system may include one or more memory devices storing instructions. The system may also include one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to receive transaction data associated with a customer, and receive a request to generate a visual representation of a trip taken by the customer. The one or more processors may also be configured to determine transactions associated with a trip taken by the customer based on at least the transaction data, and generate a visual representation of the trip, the visual representation including the transactions.

1 . A system for providing visual representations of customer activities, comprising:
one or more storage devices storing instructions; and one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to perform the operations of:
obtaining data representing a plurality of transactions associated with a customer;
determining, based on the data, that the customer engaged in an activity away from a home area of the customer;
identifying transactions associated with the customer during the activity; and
generating a visual representation for display to the customer, the visual representation including a total transaction amount associated with the identified transactions, the visual representation including a characterization of the activity and the visual representation being selectable to display descriptions of the identified transactions associated with the customer during the activity upon user selection.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the activity comprises at least one of a vacation, a business trip, a road trip, a move, or an outing in which the customer is away from the home area of the customer.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the home area comprises a specified radius around an address associated with the customer.
4 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the home area comprises an area corresponding to a zip code.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein determining that the customer engaged in the activity away from the home area of the customer comprises determining that a minimum number of consecutive transactions took place away from the home area of the customer.
6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the one or more processors is further configured to execute the instructions to perform the operation of:
analyzing data associated with the consecutive transactions to categorize the consecutive transactions into sub-groups corresponding to stops made during the activity.
7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein analyzing data associated with the consecutive transactions comprises:
analyzing transaction location data contained in the consecutive transaction data; analyzing transaction type data contained in the consecutive transaction data; analyzing transaction amount data contained in the consecutive transaction data; analyzing card present/absent data contained in the consecutive transaction data; analyzing merchant type data contained in the consecutive transaction data; or analyzing financial account data contained in the consecutive transaction data to categorize the consecutive transactions into sub-groups corresponding to stops made during the activity.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the visual representation further comprises a map depicting locations associated with the identified transactions.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the one or more processors is further configured to execute the instructions to perform the operation of:
obtaining an image through an application program interface (API); and associating the image with the activity.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein associating the image with the activity further comprises at least one of:
associating the image with the activity based on matching, by at least one processor processing the image, an approximate time that the image was taken with an approximate time that the activity took place; associating the image with the activity based on matching, by at least one processor processing the image, an approximate date that the image was taken with an approximate date that the activity took place; or associating the image with the activity based on matching, by at least one processor processing the image, an approximate location that the image was taken with an approximate location that the activity took place.
11 . A computer-implemented method for providing visual representations of customer activities, comprising:
obtaining data representing a plurality of transactions associated with a customer; determining, by at least one processor processing on the data, that the customer engaged in an activity away from a home area of the customer; identifying, by the at least one processor, transactions associated with the customer during the activity; and generating, by the at least one processor, a visual representation for display to the customer, the visual representation including a total transaction amount associated with the identified transactions, the visual representation including a characterization of the activity and the visual representation being selectable to display descriptions of the identified transactions associated with the customer during the activity upon user selection.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the activity comprises at least one of a vacation, a business trip, a road trip, a move, or an outing in which the customer is away from the home area of the customer.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the home area comprises a specified radius around an address associated with the customer.
14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the home area comprises an area corresponding to a zip code.
15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein determining that the customer engaged in the activity away from the home area of the customer comprises determining that a minimum number of consecutive transactions took place away from the home area of the customer.
16 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising:
analyzing, by the at least one processor, data associated with the consecutive transactions to categorize the consecutive transactions into sub-groups corresponding to stops made during the activity.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein analyzing data associated with the consecutive transactions comprises:
analyzing transaction location data contained in the consecutive transaction data; analyzing transaction type data contained in the consecutive transaction data; analyzing transaction amount data contained in the consecutive transaction data; analyzing card present/absent data contained in the consecutive transaction data; analyzing merchant type data contained in the consecutive transaction data; or
analyzing financial account data contained in the consecutive transaction data to categorize the consecutive transactions into sub-groups corresponding to stops made during the activity.
18 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the visual representation further comprises a map depicting locations associated with the identified transactions.
19 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising at least one of:
obtaining an image through an application program interface (API); and associating the image with the activity based on matching, by at least one processor processing the image, an approximate time that the image was taken with an approximate time that the activity took place; associating an image with the activity based on matching, by at least one processor processing the image, an approximate date that the image was taken with an approximate date that the activity took place; or associating an image with the activity based on matching, by at least one processor processing the image, an approximate location that the image was taken with an approximate location that the activity took place.
20 . A tangible computer-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by a processor, perform operations for providing visual representations of customer activities, comprising:
obtaining data representing a plurality of transactions associated with a customer; determining, by at least one processor processing on the data, that the customer engaged in an activity away from a home area of the customer; identifying, by the at least one processor, transactions associated with the customer during the activity; and generating, by the at least one processor, a visual representation for display to the customer, the visual representation including a total transaction amount associated with the identified transactions, the visual representation including a characterization of the activity and the visual representation being selectable to display descriptions of the identified transactions associated with the customer during the activity upon user selection.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
