Makeup applicator

Abstract

The specification provides a makeup includes a head with an applicator surface mounted on a base. The applicator surface receives makeup that is formed as a mark to be applied on a person's skin by the pressing or stamping and/or rocking or rolling of the head onto the skin. The applicator may be configurable so that the user may alter the shape of the mark applied to the skin by the applicator. One or more applicators may be included in a kit with a releasable handle.

We claim: 
     
         1 . A makeup applicator comprising:
 a base;   a head, said head comprising:   a body mounted to said base, said body forming an applicator surface having a concave shape with a length and a width defining an area so dimensioned as to extend across a person's eyelid adjacent a person's eyelashes, said area having a size and a shape sufficient to receive and to hold makeup in a preformed eyelid makeup shape for direct application onto the person's eyelid by pressing the body onto the person's eyelid adjacent the person's eyelashes and thereby apply the makeup in the preformed makeup shape across the person's eyelid, the applicator surface comprising a foam material to hold the makeup in the preformed makeup shape wherein the preformed makeup shape can be applied and transferred to a person's eyelid when the applicator surface is pressed onto the person's eyelid; and   a handle mounted on the base, said applicator surface being fixed relative to said handle, and said handle extending orthogonal to said area of the applicator surface.   
     
     
         2 . The makeup applicator according to  claim 1 , wherein said body is a resilient body. 
     
     
         3 . A makeup applicator comprising:
 a base;   a head, said head comprising:   a body mounted to said base, said body forming an applicator surface having a concave shape having a length and a width defining an area configured to extend across a person's eyelid adjacent a person's eyelashes, said area having a size and a shape sufficient to receive and hold makeup in a preformed eyelid makeup shape for direct application onto the person's eyelid by pressing the body onto the person's eyelid adjacent the person's eyelashes and thereby apply the makeup across the person's eyelid in the preformed eyelid makeup shape, the applicator surface comprising a foam material to hold the makeup in the preformed makeup shape wherein the preformed makeup shape can be applied and transferred to a person's eyelid when the applicator surface is pressed onto the person's eyelid; and   a handle mounted on said base, said handle extending orthogonal to said area of said applicator surface, said area of said applicator surface comprising a first region with a first plurality of raised or recessed portions having a first density and a second region with a second plurality of raised or recessed portions having a second density adjacent said first region, wherein said first density is more or less than said second density wherein said first and second pluralities of raised or recessed portions vary an amount of makeup received and held by said first and second regions of said applicator surface to create a feathered look when the preformed makeup shape is transferred by pressing on to the person's eyelid.   
     
     
         4 . The makeup applicator according to  claim 1 , wherein said head is releasably mounted to the handle. 
     
     
         5 . The makeup applicator according to  claim 1 , wherein said handle is adapted to hold a supply of makeup for dispensing from said head. 
     
     
         6 . A makeup kit comprising a plurality of said heads according to  claim 1 , wherein the base of each head is adapted to releasably mount to the handle. 
     
     
         7 . The makeup kit according to  claim 6 , further comprising a case, said case including compartments for holding said handle and said heads. 
     
     
         8 . The makeup kit according to  claim 6 , wherein the plurality of heads includes a left eye head and a right eye head. 
     
     
         9 . The makeup applicator according to  claim 1 , wherein the body comprises an elongated region having (i) a uniform thickness along its length, or (ii) a tapered shape having a decreasing thickness along its length, or (iii) at least one compound curve along its length. 
     
     
         10 . The makeup applicator according to  claim 3 , wherein at least the first plurality of raised or recessed portions or the second plurality of raised or recessed portions comprise pores. 
     
     
         11 . The makeup applicator according to  claim 3 , wherein said body is formed from a first material and a second material, said first material forming the first region, and the second material forming the second region. 
     
     
         12 . A makeup applicator comprising:
 a base;   a head, said head comprising:   a body mounted to said base, said body forming an applicator surface having a shape adapted to receive and hold makeup in a preformed eyelid makeup shape for direct application onto a person's eyelid by pressing the body onto the person's skin and thereby apply the makeup in the preformed eyelid makeup shape on the person's eyelid, said body formed from a material with reconfigurable properties that allow the body to be reconfigured from a first shape into a second shape and hold itself in the second shape so that a user may alter the shape of the applicator surface.   
     
     
         13 . The makeup applicator of  claim 12 , wherein the body comprises (i) a pliable material, or (ii) a plastic material, or (iii) a metal insert that can be reconfigured to change the body from the first shape to the second shape. 
     
     
         14 . The makeup applicator according to  claim 12 , wherein said body comprises a foam or sponge with reconfigurable properties that allow the body to be reconfigured. 
     
     
         15 . The makeup applicator according to  claim 12 , further comprising a handle, wherein the handle is mounted on the base and the handle extends orthogonal to the applicator surface.
