Claims

Abstract

A method and assembly kit for installing recycled, repurposed bottle caps affixed to a woven, mesh sheet onto a prepared support surface such as a kitchen, “wet bar”, or bar, backsplash. In addition these sheets can be made to accommodate installation in various other applications including bar tops and table tops. Each sheet, whether square or utilizing a “tongue and groove” interlocking construction, will exhibit a number of evenly spaced, bottle caps affixed to a mesh woven layer that is made to accept bottle caps in a perpetual stationary state and allow for installation to a fixed vertical or horizontal surface in a timely and, efficient manner using industry standard materials and practices.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A repurposed bottle cap backsplash assembly comprising:
 a waterproof, woven mesh backing material displaying regularly spaced openings;   a plurality of previously used bottle caps linearly, uniformly and permanently fixed to the outward facing side of said waterproof mesh backing via a commercially available hot melt adhesive;   a layer of grout placed within the space existing between said bottle caps and into the evenly spaced openings of the woven mesh backing material which is made to translocate across the length of the bottle caps and mesh and is made to communicate with a vertical surface.   
     
     
         2 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein said previously used bottle caps are configured in a linear, symmetrical pattern. 
     
     
         3 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein said previously used bottle caps are configured in non-linear or non-symmetrical pattern. 
     
     
         4 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein said bottle caps utilized are gathered from recycled bottle caps attached to said woven mesh backing via said hot glue melting adhesive. 
     
     
         5 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , where the woven mesh backing is covered with a thin set mortar, is made to display adhered bottle caps outwardly, and is made to communicate with a horizontal surface. 
     
     
         6 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the woven backing material is made to display a pre-applied tacky adhesive on the underside surface that is designated to be placed in direct contact with a vertical surface to aid in the attachment, adhesion, placement, and positioning of the bottle cap backsplash assembly prior to grout application. 
     
     
         7 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the woven backing material is made to display a pre-applied tacky adhesive on the underside surface that is designated to be placed in direct contact with a horizontal surface to aid in the placement and positioning of the bottle cap backsplash assembly prior to grout application. 
     
     
         8 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the dimensions are roughly square in configuration measuring 12 inches by 12 inches and is made to display 121 used, equally dimensioned bottle caps having equal space relation to all adjacent bottle caps. 
     
     
         9 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the dimensions are roughly square in configuration measuring 12 inches by 12 inches and is made to display used, equally dimensioned bottle caps having unequal space relation to adjacent bottle caps and are arranged in a manner as to depict a non-linear, symmetrical, or non-symmetrical pattern. 
     
     
         10 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the right and left sides of the assembly are constructed as to display projections and indentions in a “tongue and groove” fashion that are made to communicate with corresponding indentions and projections of a next adjacent assembly in order to facilitate accurate installation and proper alignment. 
     
     
         11 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein bottle cap is oriented so words and/or symbols of each bottle cap are adhered to said woven material in an upright position. 
     
     
         12 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein bottle cap is oriented so words and/or symbols of each bottle cap are adhered to said woven material is a random arrangement with regards to wording and/or symbols. 
     
     
         13 . A bottle cap backsplash assembly comprising:
 a waterproof, woven mesh backing material displaying regularly spaced openings;   a plurality of previously new bottle caps linearly, uniformly and permanently fixed to the outward facing side of said waterproof mesh backing via a hot melt adhesive;   a layer of grout placed within the space existing between said bottle caps and through into the evenly spaced openings of the woven mesh backing material which is made to translocate across the length of the bottle caps and mesh and is made to communicate with a vertical surface.   
     
     
         14 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 13 , wherein said assembly is made to communicate to a horizontal surface. 
     
     
         15 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 13 , wherein said previously used bottle caps are configured in non-linear or non-symmetrical pattern. 
     
     
         16 . The backsplash assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the dimensions are roughly square in configuration measuring 12 inches by 12 inches and is made to display 121 used, equally dimensioned bottle caps having equal space relation to all adjacent bottle caps.
