Abstract

A carrying case with peek functionality is provided. The carrying case comprises: a device holding portion configured to receive a mobile device, the device holding portion comprising a gap for exposing an indicator of the mobile device; and a sliding portion configured to move between a closed position and an open position, the sliding portion obscuring the gap in the closed position and exposing at least a portion of the gap in the open position, the sliding portion being about planar.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

         2 . A carrying case comprising:
a device-holding portion configured to hold a mobile device having a primary display and a detector; and, a moveable portion, the moveable portion having an open position and a closed position, wherein when the moveable portion is in the closed position the primary display of the mobile device and the detector are substantially obscured, and wherein when the moveable portion is in the open position, a first portion of the primary display is unobscured and the detector is unobscured.

3 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein when in the open position the first portion of the primary display is smaller in area than a second portion of the primary display.

4 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein the primary display of the mobile device comprises a graphical display.

5 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein the device-holding portion comprises a gap positioned to expose the first portion of the primary display and the detector, wherein when the moveable portion is in the closed position the gap is substantially obscured, and wherein when the moveable portion is in the open position, the gap is unobscured.

6 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein the moveable portion is configured to slide between the open position and the closed position.

7 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein the moveable portion is planar.

8 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein the device-holding portion comprises a longitudinal axis and the device-holding portion is configured to hold the mobile device along the longitudinal axis.

9 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein the moveable portion is configured to move between the open position and the closed position along a longitudinal axis of the device-holding portion.

10 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein the moveable portion is biased towards the closed position.

11 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein the moveable portion is biased towards both the open position and the closed position such that when the moveable portion is displaced from either of the open position and the closed position, the moveable portion moves to one of the open position and the closed position depending on a position of the moveable portion relative to the device-holding portion.

12 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein the moveable portion is configured to be frictionally retained at positions between the open position and the closed position.

13 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein a size of the moveable portion is about a same size as a gap of the device-holding portion.

14 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein the moveable portion covers a front wall of the device-holding portion in both the open position and the closed position.

15 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein the moveable portion comprises side walls that slide along corresponding side walls of the device-holding portion.

16 . The carrying case of claim 2 , wherein the moveable portion is configured to be operated with one hand.

17 . The carrying case of claim 2 , further comprising one or more apertures in at least one of the device-holding portion and the moveable portion, the one or more apertures corresponding to one or more of a position of a speaker and a microphone of the mobile device, when the mobile device is held by the device-holding portion.

         18 . A system comprising:
a mobile device having a primary display and a detector; and, a carrying case having:
a device-holding portion configured to hold the mobile device; and,
a moveable portion, the moveable portion having an open position and a closed position,
wherein when the moveable portion is in the closed position the primary display of the mobile device and the detector are substantially obscured, and
wherein when the moveable portion is in the open position, a first portion of the primary display is unobscured and the detector is unobscured.

19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the mobile device is configured to:
when the detector is substantially obscured, turn off at least the first portion of the primary display; and when the detector is unobscured, turn on the first portion of the primary display.

20 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the mobile device is configured to:
when the detector is substantially obscured, turn off at least the first portion of the primary display; and when the detector is unobscured, turn on the first portion of the primary display and render an indicator in the first portion.

21 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the mobile device is configured to:
when the detector is substantially obscured, turn off at least the first portion of the primary display; and when the detector is unobscured, turn on the first portion of the primary display while a second portion of the primary display remains off, the first portion smaller than the second portion.
