Abstract

In some examples, a system identifies a set of services to provide a set of outputs to be displayed on a first set of displays at a first location to an identified user, where the services are provided by computers located remotely over a network from the first location, and establishes a value for a parameter that controls a custom display of a given output of the set of outputs on a respective set of displays to the identified user based, at least in part, on a stored mapping that persistently relates the set of services, the set of outputs, a second set of displays, and the identified user. The system further adjusts the display of the given output of the set of outputs on the first set of displays, the adjusting being based, at least in part, on the value of the parameter.

What is claimed is:

         1 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions that when executed cause a system to:
 identify a set of services to provide a set of outputs to be displayed on a first set of displays at a first location to an identified user, where the services are provided by computers located remotely over a network from the first location; establish a value for a parameter that controls a custom display of a given output of the set of outputs on a respective set of displays to the identified user based, at least in part, on a stored mapping that persistently relates the set of services, the set of outputs, a second set of displays, and the identified user, where the stored mapping stores information concerning the parameter based on recording re-arranging positions of displayed elements of the given output by the identified user while previously viewing the given output of the set of outputs on the second set of displays at a second location different from the first location; and adjust the display of the given output of the set of outputs on the first set of displays, the adjusting being based, at least in part, on the value of the parameter.

         2 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , where the value for the parameter controls at least one item selected from the group consisting of a horizontal position of an output and a vertical position of an output.

         3 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , where the mapping includes an Extensible Markup Language (XML) attribute-value pair.

         4 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the instructions when executed cause the system to save the value for the parameter into the stored mapping in response to detecting a user control indication concerning saving the value for the parameter.

         5 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the instructions when executed cause the system to save the value for the parameter into the stored mapping in response to detecting the re-arranging of the positions of the displayed elements by the identified user while viewing the given output of the set of outputs on the second set of displays.

         6 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the instructions when executed cause the system to maintain a hierarchy of information concerning parameters associated with controlling the display of outputs on displays associated with identified users.

         7 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , where the parameter includes a monitor layout identifier, wherein different values of the monitor layout identifier correspond to different layouts for a display of an output.

         8 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , where the given output of the set of outputs includes a set of graphical presentations produced by the computers, where the set of graphical presentations includes one or more of an application output, a gadget output, a widget output, a frame, and a window.

         9 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the recording of the re-arranging of the positions of the displayed elements of the given output on the second set of displays at the second location comprises recording the re-arranging of horizontal and vertical positions of the displayed elements of the given output, and wherein adjusting the display of the given output of the set of outputs on the first set of displays comprises adjusting a horizontal position and a vertical position of the given output on the first set of displays.

         10 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , wherein the value for the parameter controls a width or a height of an output, and wherein adjusting the display of the given output of the set of outputs on the first set of displays comprises adjusting a width and a height of the given output on the first set of displays.

         11 . A system comprising:
 a processor; and a non-transitory storage medium storing instructions executable on the processor to:
 identify a connection to a set of services being requested by a user, the services provided by respective computers;
 identify a first set of physical displays upon which outputs of the set of services are to be displayed at a first location;
 determine values of a set of display parameters from a persistent mapping that relates the user, the set of services, and a second set of physical displays at a second location different from the first location, where the persistent mapping includes values of the set of display parameters based on recording re-arranging positions and sizes of displayed elements of the outputs of the set of services by the user while viewing the outputs of the set of services on the second set of physical displays at the second location; and
 cause display of the outputs of the set of services on the first set of physical displays, according to the determined values of the set of display parameters.

         12 . The system of claim 11 , where the set of display parameters includes parameters selected from among a horizontal position parameter, a vertical position parameter, a width parameter, and a height parameter.

         13 . The system of claim 11 , comprising a mapping data store to store the persistent mapping,
