Abstract

Articles, such as sanitary tissue products, including fibrous structures, and more particularly articles including fibrous structures having a plurality of fibrous elements wherein the article exhibits differential cellulose content throughout the thickness of the article and methods for making same are provided.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

. A fibrous structure comprising a plurality of fibrous elements, wherein the fibrous structure exhibits a thickness and wherein the fibrous structure exhibits a cellulose content that varies throughout the thickness of the fibrous structure such that the cellulose content of a first portion of the fibrous structure is from 0% to less than 40% by weight of the fibrous elements in the first portion, the cellulose content of a second portion of the fibrous structure different from the first portion is from 40% to less than 95% by weight of the fibrous elements in the second portion, and the cellulose content of a third portion of the fibrous structure different from the first and second portions is 95% to 100% by weight of the fibrous elements in the third portion, and wherein at least the second portion comprises a mixture of filaments and fibers.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 1 wherein the first, second, and third portions are visually discernible from each other.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 1 wherein the fibers and filaments of the second portion are commingled together.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 1 wherein the fibers of the second portion comprise pulp fibers.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 1 wherein the filaments of the second portion comprises a thermoplastic polymer.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 5 wherein the thermoplastic polymer comprises a polyolefin.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 1 wherein the second portion comprises a co-formed fibrous structure.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 1 wherein the first portion comprises a meltblown fibrous structure.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 8 wherein the meltblown fibrous structure comprises a plurality of meltblown filaments.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 9 wherein at least one of the meltblown filaments comprises a thermoplastic polymer.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 10 wherein the thermoplastic polymer comprises a polyolefin.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 11 wherein the polyolefin comprises polypropylene.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 1 wherein the third portion comprises a wet-laid fibrous structure.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 13 wherein the wet-laid fibrous structure comprises a textured wet-laid fibrous structure.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 14 wherein the textured wet-laid fibrous structure comprises a three-dimensional patterned wet-laid fibrous structure.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 13 wherein the wet-laid fibrous structure comprises a through-aid-dried fibrous structure.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 16 wherein the through-air-dried fibrous structure comprises a creped through-air-dried fibrous structure.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 16 wherein the through-air-dried fibrous structure comprises an uncreped through-air-dried fibrous structure.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 13 wherein the wet-laid fibrous structure comprises a fabric-creped fibrous structure.

. The fibrous structure according to claim 13 wherein the wet-laid fibrous structure comprises a belt-creped fibrous structure.
