Advertising during the loading of content

Abstract

A system and method of advertising for use on an internet and/or digital networking capable device, wherein the system allows advertisers to use a loading space generated during the initiation of a process on the device to post any media and/or advertising content during the time between when a program or web page is requested and when it actually loads.

1 . A method, comprising:
 displaying, by a computer, advertisement content having a duration on a display device, in response to an initiation of a loading of user requested content on the display device;   determining, by the computer, that the loading of the user requested content has concluded to define a stop event for the user requested content; and   ceasing, by the computer, displaying the advertisement content in response to the stop event.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the loading of the user requested content is monitored in response to the displaying. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the stop event occurs prior to or after an end of the duration on the display device 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the displaying of the advertisement content is on a screen in a foreground operation on the display device. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the computer initiating the loading of the user requested content is in a background operation on the display device. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising receiving input to stop the displaying of the advertisement content on the display device. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the displaying the advertisement content includes displaying at least one of a partially transparent version or a translucent version of the advertisement content. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising displaying the advertisement content after re-directing. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein at least one of a user selection, a user flagging or a user interaction with the advertisement content is recorded. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the advertisement content is interactive. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the advertisement content is interactive in the form of a game. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the display device is a mobile device and the user selected content is a webpage within an app. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising determining that a quantity of the advertisement content is needed from a content server, in response to at least one of: the computer initiating the loading of the user requested content or an insufficient cache of the advertisement content on the display device. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising redirecting, by the computer and in response to the ceasing, the user to the user requested content. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the computer includes at least one of a web browser or an app. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the advertisement content is obtained from a cache on the display device. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising receiving an update on the display device about new advertisement content. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising displaying on the display device at least one of a quantity of the advertisement content or a delay. 
     
     
         19 . An article of manufacture including a non-transitory, tangible computer readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by a computer, cause the computer to perform operations comprising:
 displaying, by the computer, advertisement content having a duration on a display device, in response to an initiation of a loading of user requested content on the display device;   determining, by the computer, that the loading of the user requested content has concluded to define a stop event for the user requested content; and ceasing, by the computer, displaying the advertisement content in response to the stop event.   
     
     
         20 . A computer system comprising:
 a processor,   a tangible, non-transitory memory configured to communicate with the processor,   the tangible, non-transitory memory having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:   displaying, by the computer system, advertisement content having a duration on a display device, in response to an initiation of a loading of user requested content on the display device;   determining, by the computer system, that the loading of the user requested content has concluded to define a stop event for the user requested content; and   ceasing, by the computer system, displaying the advertisement content in response to the stop event.
