Printing apparatus and post-processing apparatus

Abstract

A printing apparatus includes a printer to print an image on a sheet, a conveying roller for conveying the sheet from the printer along a conveyance path, an optical sensor provided on the conveyance path, the optical sensor detecting the sheet being conveyed, a finisher to perform a finishing process on the conveyed sheet, based on detection information from the optical sensor, an operation panel operable to receive sheet type information about a transparency type of the sheet, and a controller (i) to control the finisher to perform the finishing process on the conveyed sheet if the sheet type corresponds to a first type of translucent sheet, and (ii) to control the operation panel to display a message indicating that the finishing processing cannot be performed if the sheet type corresponds to a second type of translucent sheet being different in transparency from the first.

         18 . A system including a printing apparatus and a finishing apparatus,
 the printing apparatus comprising:
 a sheet feeder that feeds a sheet; 
 a first conveyance path along which the sheet fed by the sheet feeder is conveyed; 
 a printer that prints an image to the sheet conveyed along the first conveyance path; 
 a first sensor provided on the first conveyance path, the first sensor detecting the sheet being conveyed along the first conveyance path; and 
 a first controller that notifies the finishing apparatus of a detection result by the first sensor; and 
   the finishing apparatus comprising:
 a second conveyance path along which the sheet fed from the printing apparatus is conveyed; 
 a second sensor provided on the second conveyance path, the second sensor detecting the sheet being conveyed along the second conveyance path; 
 a second controller that controls a conveyance of the sheet based on a detection result of the second sensor; 
 a finisher that executes a binding processing for the sheer conveyed along the second conveyance path; and 
 a discharger that discharges the sheet for which the binding processing is executed by the finisher, 
 wherein the second controller determines whether or not to execute the binding processing by the finisher based on the detection result of the first sensor notified from the first controller, and controls the finisher and the discharger to discharge the sheet for which the binding processing is not executed by the finisher in a case when it is determined that the binding processing is not executed. 
   
     
     
         19 . The system according to  claim 18 , wherein the first sensor is an optical sensor. 
     
     
         20 . The system according to  claim 18 , wherein the sheet is a translucent sheet. 
     
     
         21 . The system according to  claim 18 , wherein the first sensor notifies a transparency level of the sheet as the detection result. 
     
     
         22 . The system according to  claim 18 , wherein the second controller determines an occurrence of a sheet jam based on the detection result of the second sensor. 
     
     
         23 . The system according to  claim 18 , wherein the second controller outputs in a case when the second sensor cannot detect the sheet. 
     
     
         24 . The system according to  claim 18 , further comprising an operation panel to which sheet type information is inputted, wherein the first controller selects the sheet feeder based on the inputted sheet type information. 
     
     
         25 . The system according to  claim 18 , wherein the first sensor is a sensor for detecting a sheet type. 
     
     
         26 . The system according to  claim 18 , wherein the second sensor is a sensor for detecting a position of the sheet.
