Abstract

In an embodiment, a command issued by an entity may be acquired by a controller contained in a storage device. The command may be issued by the entity to access a block in the storage device. The entity may be associated with a tag that may identify the entity. The tag may be associated with the block. Information about the association between the tag and the block may be stored in the storage device.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 20 . (canceled)

         21 . A method comprising:
receiving a command issued by an entity to store data in a block of a non-volatile storage contained in a cloud storage system, the entity being associated with a tag, the tag including: a first field including a username associated with the entity and a second field including identifying an encryption technique for encrypting the data; requesting storing, in the cloud storage system, information that associates the tag with the block; requesting encrypting the data in accordance with the encryption technique; and requesting storing the encrypted data in the block in the cloud storage system.

22 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
acquiring the tag from the entity.

23 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the entity is an application that executes in a computing device, and the cloud storage system is accessible by the computing device over a network.

24 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second field further identifies access rights of the entity to access the block.

25 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second field further associates keywords with data stored in the block.

26 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second field further specifies a security level associated with data stored in the block.

27 . At least one machine readable medium comprising a plurality of instructions that in response to being executed by a system at a computing platform cause the system to:
receive a command issued by an entity to store data in a block of a non-volatile storage contained in a cloud storage system, the entity being associated with a tag, the tag including: a first field including a username associated with the entity and a second field including identifying an encryption technique for encrypting the data; request storing, in the cloud storage system, information that associates the tag with the block; request encrypting the data in accordance with the encryption technique; and request storing the encrypted data in the block in the cloud storage system.

28 . The machine readable medium of claim 27 , further comprising:
acquiring the tag from the entity.

29 . The machine readable medium of claim 27 , wherein the entity is an application that executes in a computing device, and the cloud storage system is accessible by the computing device over a network.

30 . The machine readable medium of claim 27 , wherein the second field further identifies access rights of the entity to access the block.

31 . The machine readable medium of claim 27 , wherein the second field further associates keywords with data stored in the block.

32 . The machine readable medium of claim 27 , wherein the second field further specifies a security level associated with data stored in the block.
