Methods of treating alpha adrenergic mediated conditions

Abstract

Described herein are compounds for and methods of treating conditions or diseases in a subject by administering to the subject a pharmaceutical composition containing an effective amount of an α-adrenergic modulator. The compounds and methods are also useful for alleviating types of pain, acute, neuropathic and chronic.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of treating gastritis in a mammal, the method comprising administering to the mammal in need of such treatment a pharmaceutically effective dose of N-(2,3-dichlorobenzyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-amine having the following structure: 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the dose is administered by an oral route. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the dose is orally administered in the form of a tablet, liquid, capsule or powder. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the dose is administered by a transdermal, parenteral, subcutaneous, intranasal, intrathecal, intramuscular, intravenous or intrarectal route. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the mammal is a human.
