Abstract
Systems and methods involving proximity, mapping, indexing, mobile, advertising, and location processing, among others, are disclosed. According to one illustrative implementation, a method of determining a mobile device location may comprise capturing product information from a product within a facility by a mobile device, retrieving a product location within the facility from a database based on the capture product information, and determining the mobile device location within the facility based on the product location and the product information.

1 . A method comprising:
by a server with processor and memory, in communication with a network,
storing an indexed map with identifying markers;
receiving a scan data from a mobile device over the network;
correlating the received scan data to one of the identifying markers on the indexed map;
locating the mobile device on the map based on the correlated scan data;
comparing the mobile device location on the map to a record of information;
retrieving relevant information from the record of information based on the mobile device location; and
sending the mobile device the retrieved relevant information related to the mobile device location on the map.
2 . The method of claim 1 further comprising,
receiving inertial navigation information from the mobile device over the network;
determining a new location of the mobile device on the map based on the correlated scan data and the inertial navigation information;
retrieving new relevant information from the record of information based on the new mobile device location; and
sending the mobile device the retrieved new relevant information related to the new mobile device location on the map.
3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the scan data is from a barcode scan taken by the mobile device.
4 . The method of claim 1 wherein the scan data is from an image taken by a camera in the mobile device.
5 . The method of claim 1 wherein the mobile device is correlated to an account and the account includes user demographic information.
6 . The method of claim 5 wherein the information sent to the mobile device is partially based on the demographic information correlated with the account.
7 . The method of claim 1 further comprising augmenting the location of the mobile device with information from a GPS signal received from the mobile device.
8 . The method of claim 1 wherein the information related to the one identifying mark correlated to the scan data is information received from a third party.
9 . The method of claim 1 further comprising,
indexing the identifying markers utilizing at least one of a camera, inertial navigation system, proximity sensor, Bluetooth communication and WiFi communication.
10 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions thereon for a method comprising:
by a server with processor and memory, in communication with a network,
storing an indexed map with identifying markers;
receiving a scan data from a mobile device over the network;
correlating the received scan data to one of the identifying markers on the indexed map;
locating the mobile device on the map based on the correlated scan data;
comparing the mobile device location on the map to a record of information;
retrieving relevant information from the record of information based on the mobile device location; and
sending the mobile device the retrieved relevant information related to the mobile device location on the map.
receiving inertial navigation information from the mobile device over the network;
determining a new location of the mobile device on the map based on the correlated scan data and the inertial navigation information;
retrieving new relevant information from the record of information based on the new mobile device location; and
sending the mobile device the retrieved new relevant information related to the new mobile device location on the map.
11 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10 wherein the scan data is from a barcode scan taken by the mobile device.
12 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10 wherein the scan data is from an image taken by a camera in the mobile device.
13 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10 wherein the mobile device is correlated to an account and the account includes user demographic information.
14 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 wherein the information sent to the mobile device is partially based on the demographic information correlated with the account.
15 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 further comprising augmenting the location of the mobile device with information from a GPS signal received from the mobile device.
16 . The method of claim 12 wherein the information related to the one identifying mark correlated to the scan data is information received from a third party.
17 . The method of claim 12 further comprising,
indexing the identifying markers utilizing at least one of a camera, inertial navigation system, proximity sensor, Bluetooth communication and WiFi communication.
18 . A system comprising:
a server with processor and memory, in communication with a network, the server configured to,
store an indexed map with identifying markers;
receive a scan data from a mobile device over the network;
correlate the received scan data to one of the identifying markers on the indexed map;
locate the mobile device on the map based on the correlated scan data;
compare the mobile device location on the map to a record of information;
retrieve relevant information from the record of information based on the mobile device location; and
send the mobile device the retrieved relevant information related to the mobile device location on the map;
receive inertial navigation information from the mobile device over the network;
determine a new location of the mobile device on the map based on the correlated scan data and the inertial navigation information;
retrieve new relevant information from the record of information based on the new mobile device location; and
send the mobile device the retrieved new relevant information related to the new mobile device location on the map.
19 . The system of claim 18 wherein the server is further configured to,
receive inertial navigation information from the mobile device over the network;
determine a new location of the mobile device on the map based on the correlated scan data and the inertial navigation information;
retrieve new relevant information from the record of information based on the new mobile device location; and
send the mobile device the retrieved new relevant information related to the new mobile device location on the map.
20 . The system of claim 19 wherein the server is further configured to,
