Abstract

A top loading cartridge is provided herein. The top loading cartridge includes a support member, a rail member, and a lock mechanism. The support member to receive an electronic module. The rail member attached to the support member to engage with a tray that receives the top loading server cartridge. The lock mechanism to lock the top loading cartridge.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A chassis comprising:
 a tray attached to the chassis; a tray insert to form a cartridge slot with a particular size within the tray based on the position of the tray insert within the tray; a tray alignment member, formed of the tray to receive the tray insert; a guard rail to align a rail member of a top loading cartridge into the cartridge slot; and a tray receptacle to secure the top loading cartridge to the tray.

         2 . The chassis of claim 1 , wherein the tray insert is selectively removeable.

         3 . The chassis of claim 1 , wherein the top loading cartridge is of a various width and length.

         4 . The chassis of claim 2 , wherein the removal of the tray insert accommodates the top loading cartridge.

         5 . The chassis of claim 1 , wherein the tray receptacle further includes a tray protrusion to engage with a tray engagement member of the top loading cartridge.

         6 . A chassis system comprising:
 a plurality of top loading cartridges, including:
 a locking mechanism to lock the plurality of top loading cartridges;
 a support member to receive an electronic module into a cartridge slot; and
 a rail member attached to the support member; and a tray attached to the chassis, the tray including:
 a guide rail to mate with the rail member;
 a camming surface to engage with a cam of the plurality of top loading cartridges;
 a selectively removeable tray insert to form the cartridge slot; and
 a tray alignment member to receive the tray insert, wherein the selectively removeable tray insert is removed to accommodate various sized top loading cartridges.

         7 . The chassis system of claim 6 , wherein the plurality of top loading cartridges includes at least one of a server cartridge, a fan cartridge, and a network switch cartridge.

         8 . The chassis system of claim 6 , wherein the selective removal of the tray insert accommodates a single cartridge that is a width of two cartridges.

         9 . The chassis system of claim 6 , wherein the selective removal of the tray insert accommodates a single cartridge that is a length of four cartridges.

         10 . The chassis system of claim 6 , wherein the tray alignment member is formed of the tray.

         11 . The chassis system of claim 7 , further comprising an air aperture formed of the tray to circulate air from the fan module through the tray.

         12 . A modular computing system comprising:
 a plurality of support members to receive a plurality of top loading electronic modules, wherein the plurality of top loading electronic modules are of various lengths and widths; a rail member coupled to a particular support member of the plurality of support members and a particular top loading electronic cartridge of the plurality of top loading electronic cartridges, to engage with a tray that receives the particular support member and particular top loading electronic module: and the tray further includes:
 at least one selectively removeable tray insert to form at least one cartridge slot; and
 at least one tray alignment member formed of the tray to receive the tray insert, wherein the selective removal of the tray insert accommodates the various lengths and widths of the plurality of top loading electronic modules.

         13 . The modular computing system of claim 12 , wherein at least one of the plurality top loading electronic modules are that of a server module, a fan module, and a network switch module.

         14 . The modular computing system of claim 12 , further comprising a system board coupled to the tray to connect and power the plurality of top loading electronic modules.

         15 . The modular computing system of claim 12 , wherein a size of the particular top loading electronic module is at least one of a width of two cartridge slots and a length of four cartridge slots.
