Abstract

A bottle with bottle cap capable having a substance retained therein. The bottle cap threadedly engages the bottle containing a beverage therein. The bottle cap includes a cylindrical member closed at a first end thereof and open at a second end thereof. There is a threaded portion disposed on an inner surface of the cylindrical member for engaging a threaded end of such bottle. A capsule like device is disposed inside the cylindrical member adjacent the closed end for retaining a substance to be dispensed into a beverage in such bottle. A device for piercing the capsule engages each of the threaded portion of the bottle cap and the capsule for piercing the capsule as the bottle cap is threaded onto such bottle thereby releasing contents of the capsule into such beverage for mixing therewith.

What is claimed is:

         1 . A delivery system comprising:
a bottle (i) closed at a first bottle end, and (ii) open at a second bottle end; a cap (i) closed at a first cap end, (ii) open at a second cap end, and (iii) operable to engage the second bottle end via the second cap end, a retainer (i) disposed inside the cap, and (ii) operable to retain a substance within the cap; and a piercer operable to pierce the retainer when the cap is being secured to the bottle, and cause the substance to be dispensed into the bottle from the cap.

2 . The delivery system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a retaining ring (i) disposed within the cap, and (ii) operable to engage a portion of the piercer so that the piercer is secured within the cap

3 . The delivery system of claim 1 , wherein,
the second bottle end includes a first threaded portion disposed on an outer surface of the second bottle end; and the second cap end includes a second threaded portion (i) disposed on an inner surface of the cap, and (ii) operable to engage the first threaded portion of the bottle.

4 . The delivery system of claim 1 , wherein,
the piercer is operable to abut an upper portion of the bottle as the cap being secured to the bottle, and the upper portion of the bottle is operable to force the piercer at least partially through the retainer as the cap is being further secured to the bottle.

5 . The delivery system of claim 4 , wherein,
the upper portion of the bottle maintains the piercer in a fixed position relative to the bottle when the cap is being further secured to the bottle.

6 . The delivery system of claim 1 , wherein,
the cap includes an internal track operable to guide the piercer along the cap and towards the retainer.

7 . The delivery system of claim 1 , wherein,
the retainer includes a retaining wall operable to be pierced by the piercer.

8 . The delivery system of claim 1 , wherein,
 the retainer is a capsule.

9 . The delivery system of claim 1 , wherein,
the piercer includes at least one wall (i) extending toward the retainer, and (ii) operable to extend at least partially into the retainer when the cap is being secured to the bottle.

10 . The delivery system of claim 1 , wherein,
 the substance is a liquid.
