Seat assembly for a toilet
Abstract
A mounting assembly for mounting a seat to a toilet having a base with a pair of mounting holes includes a base member, a first member and a second member. The first member is for insertion into a first of the pair of mounting holes. The first member interconnected to the base member. The second member is for insertion into a second of the pair of mounting holes. The second member is interconnected to the base member and spaced apart from the first member by a horizontal distance. At least one of the first and second members is operative for clamping the mounting assembly to the toilet in a vertical direction.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A mounting assembly for mounting a seat to a toilet, the toilet having a base with a pair of mounting holes, the mounting assembly comprising:
a base portion; a first member for insertion into a first of the pair of mounting holes, the first member interconnected to the base portion; a second member for insertion into a second of the pair of mounting holes, the second member interconnected to the base portion and spaced apart from the first member by a horizontal distance; and wherein at least one of the first and second members is operative for clamping the mounting assembly to the toilet in a vertical direction.
2 . The mounting assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a clamping assembly operative to clamp the mounting assembly to the toilet in a horizontal direction.
3 . The mounting assembly of claim 1 , wherein a lower end of the at least one of the first and second members is adjustable in a vertical direction for clamping the toilet between the lower end and the base.
4 . The mounting assembly of claim 1 , wherein a lower end of both of the first and second members is adjustable in a vertical direction for clamping the toilet between the lower end and the base.
5 . The mounting assembly of claim 4 , wherein the first and second members include first and second threaded shafts, respectively, the first threaded shaft threadably engaging the base portion, the second threaded shaft threadably engaging a translatable member carried by the base.
6 . The mounting assembly of claim 1 , wherein the clamping assembly is operative to adjust the horizontal distance between the first member and the second member and thereby creating a horizontally directed clamping force between the first and second members and the toilet.
7 . The mounting assembly of claim 1 , in combination with the seat assembly, the seat assembly coupled to the mounting assembly.
8 . The mounting assembly of claim 1 , in combination with the seat assembly and the toilet, the seat assembly coupled to the mounting assembly, the first and second members inserted into the first and second mounting holes, respectively.
9 . A mounting assembly for mounting a seat to a toilet, the toilet having a base with a pair of mounting holes, the mounting assembly comprising:
a base member; a translatable member carried by the base member; a first mounting member non-translatably carried by the base member, the first mounting member including a first upper end and a first lower end; a second mounting member carried by the translatable member, the second mounting member including a second upper end and a second lower end; a first clamp member pivotally coupled to the base member; a second clamp member pivotally coupled to the base member; and a third clamp member attached to the translatable member; wherein the first clamp member is rotatable from an unlatched position to a latched position to translate the translatable member toward the first clamp member, and wherein the first lower end of the first mounting member and the second lower end of the second mounting member are both adjustable in a horizontal direction to create a horizontally directed clamping force between the first and second members and the toilet.
10 . The mounting assembly of claim 9 , wherein the first and second mounting members include first and second threaded shafts, respectively, the first threaded shaft threadably engaging a first threaded hole of the base member, the second threaded shaft threadably engaging a second threaded hole of the translatable member.
11 . The mounting assembly of claim 10 , wherein the first end of the first mounting member is non-rotatably carried by the first threaded shaft and second end of the second mounting member is non-rotatably carried by the second threaded shaft such that rotation of the first and second threaded shafts vertically adjust the first and second lower end, respectively, relative to the base.
12 . The mounting assembly of claim 10 , wherein the first and second lower ends both include a portion having a diameter less than a respective mounting hole of the pair of mounting holes of the toilet.
13 . The mounting assembly of claim 10 , wherein the first and second threaded holes are defined by first and second threaded sleeves.
14 . The mounting assembly of claim 9 , in combination with the seat assembly, the seat assembly coupled to the mounting assembly.
15 . The mounting assembly of claim 9 , in combination with the seat assembly and the toilet, the seat assembly coupled to the mounting assembly, the first and second mounting members inserted into the pair mounting holes, respectively.
16 . A method of mounting a seat to a toilet with the mounting assembly of claim 1 .
17 . The method of claim 16 , comprising clamp the mounting assembly to the toilet in a horizontal direction.
18 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising adjusting the horizontal distance between the first member and the second member to thereby create a horizontally directed clamping force between the first and second members and the toilet.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
