Electronic system and method for facilitating sound media and electronic commerce by selectively utilizing one or more song clips

Abstract

A system and method permit users to selectively search for, and identify short segments (called snippets) of music. The user may enter one or more search terms for which they are searching within a database of musical selections. Once the search terms have been defined, the user initiates the search by selecting the search button. The system searches for one or more of the musical selections that most closely match the user's search parameters, and returns those musical selections as search results back to the user. The user then selects one of the results of the search that they like best. Once the selection is made, the user may input recipient information for the person to which they would like to send this musical selection. This musical selection may then be sent to the recipient by the system.

         15 . A system for selective communication between a sender and a recipient, comprising:
 an input interface for receiving an input from a sender, the input comprising at least one word, wherein the input interface is configured to enable the sender to select at least one filter in association with the input, wherein at least one filter is selected from a group comprising at least one of, a genre section, an artist section, an album section, a composers section, a lyrics section, a title section, a compilations section, a favorites section, a musical buddy section and a song match section;   an electronic storage for storing a database of information relating to a plurality of songs, including at least title, album, artist, lyrics and related audio files;   a processor, for receiving the input, searching the database for lyrics that match said input, returning a list of said matching lyrics to the sender, and receiving a selection of one of said matching lyrics, the processor for further associating the selection with a corresponding audio snippet, said snippet comprising only a portion of a song, and for inserting the audio snippet in an electronic message; and   a communication interface for transmitting the electronic message, including said audio snippet to the recipient.   
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 15 , whereby the input from the sender is a spoken message.

The system of  claim 15 , whereby the audio files comprise way files, wherein the electronic message comprises at least one attachment and a game-play, wherein at least one attachment is selected from a group comprising a picture, a video, a link to purchase the song or video of the audio snippet and a gift voucher. 
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 15 , wherein the search results comprise portions of lyrics comprising a predetermined length, and the processor associates only a related portion of the audio snippet.

The system of  claim 15 , whereby the recipient receives the electronic message and has the option of sending a reply electronic message including a selected audio snippet, wherein the reply electronic message further comprises at least one attachment that is selected from a group comprising a picture, a video, a link to purchase the song or video or a gift voucher. 
     
     
         21 . A method for selective communication between a sender and a recipient, comprising:
 receiving an input_and at least one filter from a sender, the input comprising at least one word, wherein at least one filter is selected from a group comprising at least one of a genre section, an artist section, an album section, a composers section, a lyrics section, a title section, a compilations section, a favorites section, a musical buddy section or a song match section;   storing a database of information relating to a plurality of songs, including at least title, album, artist, lyrics and related audio files;   searching the database for lyrics that match said input to the sender;   receiving a selection from the sender of one of said matching lyrics;   associating the selection with a corresponding audio snippet, said snippet comprising only a portion of a song;   inserting the audio snippet in an electronic message; and   transmitting the electronic message to the recipient.

The system of  claim 21 , whereby the recipient receives the electronic message and has the option of sending a reply electronic message including a selected audio snippet, wherein the reply electronic message further comprises at least one attachment that is selected from a group comprising a picture, a video, a link to purchase the song or video or a gift voucher.
