Abstract
One or more touch input signals can be obtained from a touch sensitive device. A touch event model can be used to determine touch and/or gesture events based on the touch input signals. The touch and gesture events can be associated with touch input signals generated from different regions of a web page displayed on the touch sensitive device. Access can be provided to at least one touch or gesture event through a programming interface.

1 . A method, comprising:
at a touch-sensitive electronic device with one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors: displaying on a display device a graphical user interface based on an electronic document, wherein the electronic document includes instructions for processing touch events; while displaying the graphical user interface, detecting a touch with a touch-sensitive panel; in response to detecting the touch, providing a touch event, wherein the touch event includes touch event data and the touch event data includes a touch identifier for the touch; and processing the touch event based on one or more instructions in the electronic document and the touch event data that includes the touch identifier for the touch.
2 . The method of claim 1 , including:
while displaying the graphical user interface, detecting multiple touches concurrently with the touch-sensitive panel; in response to detecting the multiple touches, providing touch events, wherein a respective touch event is associated with a respective touch and includes touch event data that includes a touch identifier for the respective touch; and processing the touch events based on the one or more instructions in the electronic document and the touch event data in the touch events.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein:
the multiple touches include a first touch and a second touch; and the touch events include a first touch event that is associated with the first touch and includes touch event data that includes a first touch identifier for the first touch and a second touch event that is associated with the second touch and includes touch event data that includes a second touch identifier for the second touch.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the touch event data includes a pressure of the touch on the touch-sensitive panel.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the touch event data includes a rotation value for the touch on the touch-sensitive panel.
6 . The method of claim 1 , including:
determining whether the touch has been canceled; and in response to determining that the touch has been canceled, sending a touch cancel event.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein:
the touch is deemed to be canceled based on a determination that a system event interrupts processing of the touch.
8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein:
the touch is deemed to be canceled based on a determination that the touch-sensitive panel is locked out.
9 . The method of claim 6 , wherein:
the touch is deemed to be canceled based on a determination that the touch is inadvertent.
10 . A touch-sensitive electronic device, comprising:
one or more processors; and memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors, wherein the one or more programs include instructions for:
displaying on a display device a graphical user interface based on an electronic document, wherein the electronic document includes instructions for processing touch events;
while displaying the graphical user interface, detecting a touch with a touch-sensitive panel;
in response to detecting the touch, providing a touch event, wherein the touch event includes touch event data and the touch event data includes a touch identifier for the touch; and
processing the touch event based on one or more instructions in the electronic document and the touch event data that includes the touch identifier for the touch.
11 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the one or more programs include instructions for:
while displaying the graphical user interface, detecting multiple touches concurrently with the touch-sensitive panel; in response to detecting the multiple touches, providing touch events, wherein a respective touch event is associated with a respective touch and includes touch event data that includes a touch identifier for the respective touch; and processing the touch events based on the one or more instructions in the electronic document and the touch event data in the touch events.
12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein:
the multiple touches include a first touch and a second touch; and the touch events include a first touch event that is associated with the first touch and includes touch event data that includes a first touch identifier for the first touch and a second touch event that is associated with the second touch and includes touch event data that includes a second touch identifier for the second touch.
13 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the touch event data includes a pressure of the touch on the touch-sensitive panel.
14 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the touch event data includes a rotation value for the touch on the touch-sensitive panel.
15 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the one or more programs include instructions for:
determining whether the touch has been canceled; and in response to determining that the touch has been canceled, sending a touch cancel event.
16 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs for execution by one or more processors of a touch-sensitive electronic device, the one or more programs including instructions for:
displaying on a display device a graphical user interface based on an electronic document, wherein the electronic document includes instructions for processing touch events; while displaying the graphical user interface, detecting a touch with a touch-sensitive panel; in response to detecting the touch, providing a touch event, wherein the touch event includes touch event data and the touch event data includes a touch identifier for the touch; and processing the touch event based on one or more instructions in the electronic document and the touch event data that includes the touch identifier for the touch.
17 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein the one or more programs include instructions for:
while displaying the graphical user interface, detecting multiple touches concurrently with the touch-sensitive panel; in response to detecting the multiple touches, providing touch events, wherein a respective touch event is associated with a respective touch and includes touch event data that includes a touch identifier for the respective touch; and processing the touch events based on the one or more instructions in the electronic document and the touch event data in the touch events.
18 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein:
the multiple touches include a first touch and a second touch; and the touch events include a first touch event that is associated with the first touch and includes touch event data that includes a first touch identifier for the first touch and a second touch event that is associated with the second touch and includes touch event data that includes a second touch identifier for the second touch.
19 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein the touch event data includes a pressure of the touch on the touch-sensitive panel.
