Abstract

A device for dividing an interior chamber of a cooler into a plurality of separate chambers that prevents fluid flow between the plurality of chambers is provided. The system has a dividing wall that is insertable into the interior chamber of the cooler. A waterproof seal is positioned around the outer surfaces of the dividing wall. The seal has a blade and a rib extending around a portion of the outer surfaces to form a fluid-tight seal that prevents fluid flow from a first side of the dividing wall to a second side of the dividing wall.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A divider device for dividing an interior chamber of a cooler into a plurality of separate chambers, the divider comprising:
 a dividing wall sized and shaped to correspond to the size and shape of the interior chamber of the cooler; and   a seal positioned on at least one edge of the dividing wall, the seal comprising at least one sealing material,   wherein the dividing wall is insertable into the interior chamber of the cooler such that dividing wall and the seal prevent fluid flow between the plurality of chambers.   
     
     
         2 . The divider device of  claim 1 , wherein the dividing wall is formed from similar materials as those materials used to make the cooler. 
     
     
         3 . The divider device of  claim 2 , wherein the dividing wall has similar insulating properties as a wall of the cooler. 
     
     
         4 . The divider device of  claim 1 , wherein the dividing wall has dissimilar insulating properties as a wall of the cooler to promote heat transfer between the plurality of chambers formed in the interior chamber of the cooler. 
     
     
         5 . The divider device of  claim 1 , wherein the dividing wall has a left edge, an opposed right edge and a bottom edge extending between the left edge and the right edge, wherein the left edge is sized to correspond to a height of a first wall of the interior chamber, wherein the right edge is sized to correspond to a height of a second wall of the interior chamber that is opposed to the first wall and wherein the bottom edge is configured to be positioned on a bottom surface of the interior chamber. 
     
     
         6 . The divider device of  claim 5 , wherein the distance between the left edge and the right edge of the dividing wall corresponds to the distance between the first wall and the second wall. 
     
     
         7 . The divider device of  claim 5 , wherein the seal comprises at least one sealing material positioned on at least one of the left edge, the right edge and the bottom edge of the dividing wall. 
     
     
         8 . The divider device of  claim 5 , wherein the seal is a continuous seal extending for the entire length of the left edge, the right edge and the bottom edge. 
     
     
         9 . The divider device of  claim 5 , wherein the seal is a continuous seal extending along the left edge, the right edge and the bottom edge, and wherein the seal is spaced from an upper end of the left edge and an upper end of the right edge a predetermined distance. 
     
     
         10 . The divider device of  claim 5 , wherein the seal comprises at least one blade and at least one rib, wherein the at least one blade is coupled to the left edge, the right edge and the bottom edge of the dividing wall, and wherein the at least one rib is spaced from the at least one blade a predetermined distance. 
     
     
         11 . The divider device of  claim 10 , wherein the at least one blade has a predetermined blade width extending from a proximal edge of the at least one blade to a distal edge and wherein a blade thickness of the at least one blade tapers from the proximal edge to the distal edge of the at least one blade. 
     
     
         12 . The divider device of  claim 10 , wherein the at least one blade is positioned on the dividing wall so that the distal edge of the at least one blade extends away from the dividing wall at a predetermined angle. 
     
     
         13 . The divider device of  claim 12 , wherein the at least one blade extends away from the dividing wall substantially parallel to a surface of the dividing wall. 
     
     
         14 . The divider device of  claim 11 , wherein the at least one rib has a predetermined rib width extending from a proximal edge of the at least one rib to a distal edge, and wherein the rib width is less than the blade width. 
     
     
         15 . The divider device of  claim 10 , wherein the at least one rib comprises a plurality of ribs extending around the left edge, the right edge and the bottom edge of the dividing wall, and wherein the plurality of ribs are spaced from each other a predetermined distance. 
     
     
         16 . The divider device of  claim 15 , wherein the predetermined distance between each rib of the plurality of ribs is substantially the same. 
     
     
         17 . The divider device of  claim 16 , wherein each rib of the plurality of ribs is substantially parallel to another rib. 
     
     
         18 . The divider device of  claim 17 , wherein the at least one blade comprises a plurality of blades, and wherein a first blade of the plurality of blades is separated from a second blade of the plurality of blades by at least one rib of the plurality of ribs. 
     
     
         19 . A method for dividing an interior chamber of a cooler into a plurality of separate chambers that prevents fluid flow between the plurality of chambers comprising:
 providing a divider device comprising:
 a dividing wall sized and shaped to correspond to the size and shape of the interior chamber of the cooler; and 
 a seal positioned on at least one edge of the dividing wall, the seal comprising at least one blade and at least one rib extending along at least a portion of an outer surface of the dividing wall; and 
   inserting the dividing wall into the interior chamber of the cooler so that the dividing wall separates the interior chamber into two separate chambers and the seal of the dividing wall prevents fluid from flowing between the two separate chambers.   
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein the at least one blade comprises a plurality of blades, wherein the at least one rib comprises a plurality of ribs, and wherein a first blade of the plurality of blades is separated from a second blade of the plurality of blades by the plurality of ribs.
