Water heater furnace cover
Abstract
A utility sleeve for temporarily waterproofing a utility device comprises a top portion, a slack portion capable of being furled and unfurled by a user, a rim portion, and a bottom portion enclosed underneath the utility device. The slack portion is provided on all sides of the utility sleeve. When water levels rise due to floods and/or storm water conditions, the slack portion can be easily unfurled along all sides of the utility device by the user. The rim portion is partially closed by a closure means to allow release of gases and to allow the utility sleeve to conform to the utility device as a waterproof layer. The closure means can be attached to a part of a building structure above the utility device.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 10 . (canceled)
11 . A system comprising:
a water heater, furnace, or boiler; and a sleeve for waterproofing the water heater, furnace, or boiler in the event of flood water or storm water exposure, comprising:
a single layer engineered plasticized Poly Vinyl Chloride (pPVC) or a multiple layer engineered pPVC: (a) that is self-extinguishing such that the single layer engineered pPVC or the multiple layer engineered pPVC withstands the pressures of flood water or storm water external to the water heater, furnace, or boiler and maintains the ability to conform to the water heater, furnace, or boiler when under the pressure of flood water or storm water external to the-water heater, furnace, or boiler, and (b) that is mold-resistant to prevent deterioration of the single layer engineered pPVC or the multiple layer engineered pPVC when the single layer engineered pPVC or the multiple layer engineered pPVC is exposed to the flood water or the storm water, the single layer engineered pPVC or the multiple layer engineered pPVC forming a waterproof sleeve having an open top portion, a closed bottom portion, and a slack portion between the top portion and the bottom portion, wherein the slack portion is easily furled and unfurled; and
a closure for cinching the open top portion to a restricted size, the closure having an attachment for holding the open top portion in an elevated position,
wherein when the waterproof sleeve is in a furled state, the waterproof sleeve rests with the open top portion adjacent to the bottom portion, and when the waterproof sleeve is in an unfurled state, the slack portion extends upward with the open top portion held up by the closure, and
wherein the sleeve is professionally installed underneath the water heater, furnace, or boiler and remains stationary for the life expectancy of the water heater, furnace, or boiler.
12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the closure is attachable to a part of a building structure, preserving the waterproof sleeve in an unfurled position.
13 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the sleeve further includes at least one strap to keep the sleeve in a furled position, with one end of the at least one strap attached to the open top portion and another end of the at least one strap attached to the bottom portion.
14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the sleeve further includes a rim portion that is part of the slack portion.
15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the sleeve further includes a rim portion that is part of the top portion.
16 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the sleeve is made of a non-conductive material.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
