Metatagging of captions

Abstract

A method for the real-time metatagging and captioning of an event. The method for the real-time metatagging and captioning of an event may include embedding metatag information in a caption file provided by a captioner. The embedded metatag information may allow a user to access additional information via the text of the captioned event. The metatag information may be embedded using a captioning device that creates both the text code and embeds the metatag code.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method for metatagging an event, comprising:
 receiving audio data associated with an event at a captioning device;   employing the captioning device to produce a caption file;   transmitting the caption file and the audio data to an editing system; and   embedding at least one context sensitive metatag code into the formatted caption file employing the editing system.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , comprising using an automated search to identify information for metatagging.
