Abstract

The present invention provides a method of quantifying miR-185 as a potential biomarker in lipid disorder or cardiovascular diseases in human. The present invention also provides a method of modulating miR-185 in regulating LDL and cholesterol metabolism in cells. The present invention has therapeutic potential in the treatment of cholesterol/LDL related cardiovascular diseases in humans.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A kit for determining an increased risk for atherosclerosis in a human, comprising:
 a) a reagent for quantifying miR-185 expression level in a biological sample; and b) an instruction for use of said reagent in quantifying said miR-185 expression level, wherein an increased miR-185 expression level is indicative of an increased risk of atherosclerosis in a human.

2 . The kit of claim 1 , wherein said reagent comprises a forward primer and a reverse primer for miR-185 used in a qRT-PCR to specifically quantify the expression level of miR-185.

3 . The kit of claim 1 , wherein said biological sample is blood.
