Abstract

Methods, apparatus, systems, devices, and computer program products directed to enhancements to proximity-based services (ProSe) direct discovery are provided. Among the methods is a method that may be implemented in a proximity services (ProSe) function and that may include receiving, from the first WTRU, a first discovery request message including a ProSe application identifier (ID); receiving, from a second WTRU, a second discovery request message including the ProSe application ID; in response to the second discovery request message, transmitting, to the second WTRU, a discovery response message including a discovery filter, wherein the discovery filter includes a first ProSe application code; receiving, from the second WTRU, a match report including a second ProSe application code and a metadata flag; and generating a match report acknowledgement message, wherein the match report acknowledgement message includes (1) a value of a validity timer and (2), based on the metadata flag, metadata information associated with the ProSe application ID, if any.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1 . A method implemented in a proximity services (ProSe) function serving a first wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a second WTRU, the method comprising:
receiving, from the first WTRU, a first discovery request message including a ProSe application identifier (ID); receiving, from a second WTRU, a second discovery request message including the ProSe application ID; in response to the second discovery request message, transmitting, to the second WTRU, a discovery response message including a discovery filter, wherein the discovery filter includes a first ProSe application code; receiving, from the second WTRU, a match report including a second ProSe application code and a metadata flag; and generating a match report acknowledgement message, wherein the match report acknowledgement message includes (1) a value of a validity timer and (2), based on the metadata flag, metadata information associated with the ProSe application ID, if any.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first discovery request message further includes the metadata information associated with the ProSe application ID.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising: obtaining the first ProSe application code corresponding to the ProSe application ID.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
transmitting, to a ProSe application server, a message requesting the first ProSe application code corresponding to the ProSe application ID; and receiving, from the ProSe application server, the first ProSe application code corresponding to the ProSe application ID.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
obtaining a third ProSe application code corresponding to the ProSe application ID; and determining that the obtained third ProSe application code is valid, wherein the valid third ProSe application code is the first ProSe application code.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
storing the metadata information, received from the first WTRU, associated with the ProSe application ID; and transmitting, to the second WTRU, the match report acknowledgement message.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the metadata flag indicates that the metadata information associated with the ProSe application ID is to be included in the match report acknowledgement message.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the match report acknowledgement message is generated on condition that the second ProSe application code corresponds to the first ProSe application code.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the validity timer is associated with the discovery filter, wherein the value of the validity timer indicates a time duration for the validity timer.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first discovery request message is an announcing type discovery request message and the second discovery request message is a monitoring type discovery request message.

11 . A proximity services (ProSe) function serving a first wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a second WTRU, the ProSe function comprising:
 a receiver configured to:
receive, from the first WTRU, a first discovery request message including a ProSe application identifier (ID); and
 receive, from a second WTRU, a second discovery request message including the ProSe application ID;
a transmitter configured to: in response to the second discovery request message, transmit, to the second WTRU, a discovery response message including a discovery filter, wherein the discovery filter includes a first ProSe application code; the receiver further configured to receive, from the second WTRU, a match report including a second ProSe application code and a metadata flag; and a processor, operatively coupled with the receiver and the transmitter, configured to generate a match report acknowledgement message, wherein the match report acknowledgement message includes (1) a value of a validity timer and (2), based on the metadata flag, metadata information associated with the ProSe application ID, if any.

12 . The ProSe function of claim 11 , wherein the first discovery request message further includes the metadata information associated with the ProSe application ID.

13 . The ProSe function of claim 11 , wherein the receiver is configured to obtain the first ProSe application code corresponding to the ProSe application ID.

14 . The ProSe function of claim 11 , wherein:
the transmitter is configured to transmit, to a ProSe application server, a message requesting the first ProSe application code corresponding to the ProSe application ID; and the receiver is configured to receive, from the ProSe application server, the first ProSe application code corresponding to the ProSe application ID.

15 . The ProSe function of claim 11 , wherein:
the receiver is configured to obtain a third ProSe application code corresponding to the ProSe application ID; and the processor is configured to determine that the obtained third ProSe application code is valid, wherein the valid third ProSe application code is the first ProSe application code.

16 . The ProSe function of claim 11 , wherein:
the processor is configured to store the metadata information, received from the first WTRU, associated with the ProSe application ID; and the transmitter is configured to transmit, to the second WTRU, the match report acknowledgement message.

17 . The ProSe function of claim 11 , wherein the metadata flag indicates that the metadata information associated with the ProSe application ID is to be included in the match report acknowledgement message.
