Communications system

Abstract

A system is disclosed in which a mobile communication device establishes device-to-device (D2D) communication with another mobile communication device, and searches for a communication network whilst engaged in the D2D communication. When it finds a communication network, the mobile communication device indicates that it is engaged in the D2D communication. The mobile communication device continues, or does not continue, the D2D communication based on an authorisation by the communication network.

         46 . A master base station device configured to provide control plane connectivity to a user device whilst user plane connectivity is provided to the user device by a secondary base station device, the master base station device comprising:
 means for receiving a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) interest indication from the user device; and   means for sending, to the secondary base station device, at least one message including the MBMS interest indication and a request to add a cell that will provide the MBMS service as a cell of a secondary cell group (SCG) serving the user device.   
     
     
         47 . A secondary base station device configured to provide user plane connectivity to a user device whilst control plane connectivity is provided to the user device by a master base station device, the secondary base station device comprising:
 means for receiving, from the master base station device, at least one message including a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) interest indication message from the user device and a request to add a cell that will provide the MBMS service as a cell of a secondary cell group (SCG) serving the user device.   
     
     
         48 . A method performed by a master base station device configured to provide control plane connectivity to a user device whilst user plane connectivity is provided to the user device by a secondary base station device, the method comprising:
 receiving a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) interest indication from the user device; and   sending, to the secondary base station device, at least one message including the MBMS interest indication and a request to add a cell that will provide the MBMS service as a cell of a secondary cell group (SCG) serving the user device.   
     
     
         49 . A method performed by a secondary base station device configured to provide user plane connectivity to a user device whilst control plane connectivity is provided to the user device by a master base station device, the method comprising:
 receiving, from the master base station device, at least one message including a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) interest indication from the user device and a request to add a cell that will provide the MBMS service as a cell of a secondary cell group (SCG) serving the user device.   
     
     
         50 . A computer-readable recording medium comprising computer implementable instructions for causing a programmable communications device to perform the method of  claim 48 .
