Abstract

The invention provides a systems and method for transferring money from a sender to a receiver utilizing a computer network including a server. The method may comprise the steps of the sender identifying, to the server over the network, an amount of money to be transferred to the receiver and a withdraw account from which money is to be transferred. The method may further include transferring money from the withdraw account; the server sending an electronic message to the receiver over the network to inform the receiver that the sender is transferring money to the receiver and to request the receiver contact the server to receive money; the receiver contacting the server over the network in response to the electronic message and identifying a deposit account to which money is to be transferred. Further, the method may include transferring money to the deposit account.

1 . A method for transferring money from a sender to a receiver utilizing a computer network comprising the steps of:
 in an information processing apparatus including at least a memory, a communication interface, and at least one computer processor:
 receiving from a first electronic device associated with the sender over the computer network an identification of an amount of money to be transferred to the receiver and a withdraw account from which the amount of money is to be transferred; 
 transferring the amount of money from the withdraw account into a holding account; 
 sending an electronic message to the receiver over the computer network to inform the receiver that the sender is transferring the amount of money to the receiver and to request the receiver to contact the server to receive the amount of money, the electronic message comprising a URL for contacting the server; 
 receiving at the URL and from a second electronic device associated with the receiver an identification of a deposit account to which the amount of money is to be transferred; 
 receiving from the first electronic device associated with the sender over the computer network a challenge question for the receiver and a correct response for the challenge question, the correct response known to both the sender and the receiver before the sender formulates the challenge question; 
 presenting the second electronic device associated with the receiver with the challenge question; 
 receiving from the second electronic device associated with the receiver a submitted response to the challenge question; 
 verifying that the submitted response matches the correct response; and 
 transferring the amount of money from the holding account to the deposit account. 
   
     
     
         2 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein electronic message further comprises an identification of the amount of money being transferred. 
     
     
         3 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the withdraw account is a checking account. 
     
     
         4 . The method according to  claim 3 , wherein the amount of money is transferred to the deposit account within twenty four hours. 
     
     
         5 . The method according to  claim 3 , where the amount of money is transferred to the deposit account in four business days. 
     
     
         6 . The method according to  claim 3 , further comprising receiving from the first electronic device associated with the sender an identification of a credit card account to secure a transaction from the checking account. 
     
     
         7 . The method according to  claim 6 , further comprising transmitting information regarding the credit card transaction to a credit card authorization network for approval. 
     
     
         8 . The method according to  claim 6 , wherein the amount of money is transferred to the deposit account within twenty four hours. 
     
     
         9 . The method according to  claim 3 , further comprising transmitting information regarding the check transaction to a check authorization network for approval. 
     
     
         10 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the withdraw account is a credit card account. 
     
     
         11 . The method according to  claim 10 , further comprising transmitting information regarding the credit card transaction to a credit card authorization network for approval. 
     
     
         12 . The method according to  claim 1 , further comprising the step of identifying, to the server, a network address of the sender for receiving electronic messages. 
     
     
         13 . The method according to  claim 12 , further comprising verifying the network address of the sender. 
     
     
         14 . The method according to  claim 12 , further comprising the step of sending a second electronic message over the computer network to the sender confirming that the server has sent an electronic message to the receiver informing the receiver that the sender has transferred the amount of money after sending the electronic message to the receiver over the computer network to inform the receiver that the sender is transferring the amount of money. 
     
     
         15 . The method according to  claim 12 , further comprising sending a second electronic message over the computer network to the sender confirming that the receiver has contacted the server in response to the electronic message receiving the identification of the deposit account from the receiver. 
     
     
         16 . The method according to  claim 12 , further comprising sending a second electronic message over the computer network to the sender confirming that the amount of money has been transferred from the withdraw account after transferring the amount of money from the withdraw account. 
     
     
         17 . The method according to  claim 12 , further comprising sending a second electronic message over the computer network to the sender confirming that the amount of money has been transferred to the deposit account after transferring the amount of money to the deposit account. 
     
     
         18 . The method according to  claim 1 , further comprising receiving from the sender an identification of a network address of the receiver for receiving electronic messages. 
     
     
         19 . The method according to  claim 18 , further comprising sending an electronic message over the computer network to the receiver confirming that the amount of money has been transferred to the deposit account after transferring the amount of money to the deposit account.

         22 . The method according to  claim 1 , further comprising approving or denying the sender as a customer in good standing by transmitting a name of the sender to an Applicant verification network for approval.

         24 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the electronic message comprises a URL for an electronic greeting card.

         54 . A system for transferring money from a sender to a receiver utilizing a computer network, said system comprising:
 a first electronic device associated with the sender of an amount of money;   a second electronic device associated with the receiver of the amount of money; and   an information processing device including at least a memory, a communication interface, and at least one computer processor, the information processing apparatus in communication with the first electronic device and the second electronic device over at least one computer network, wherein the information processing device:
 receives a request from the first electronic device over the computer network to transfer an amount of money to the receiver and for receiving an identification of a withdraw account from which amount of money is to be transferred; 
 sends an electronic message to the second electronic device over the computer network to inform the receiver that the sender is transferring the amount of money and to request the receiver to contact the server to receive the amount of money, the electronic message comprising a URL for contacting the server; and 
 receives at the URL and from the second electronic device an identification of a deposit account to which the amount of money is to be transferred; 
 receives from the first electronic device a challenge question for the receiver and a correct response for the challenge question, the correct response known to both the sender and the receiver before the sender formulates the challenge; 
 presents the challenge question to the second electronic device; 
 receives from the second electronic device associated with the receiver a submitted response to the challenge question; 
 verifies that the submitted response matches the correct response; and 
 transfers the amount of money from the withdraw account to the deposit account.
