Abstract

A method and an apparatus include a memory, a communication unit comprising communication circuitry, and a processor functionally coupled with the memory and/or the communication unit. The processor is configured to receive a transmit request of a file stored in the memory, to determine whether the requested file exceeds a reference size, to send the requested file to a server through the communication unit using a module configured with a file transfer function if the requested file exceeds the reference size, to receiver from the server a file access path relating to the transmitted file, and to share the received file access path with another electronic device.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An electronic device comprising:
 a memory;   a communication unit comprising communication circuitry; and   a processor functionally coupled with the memory and/or the communication unit,   wherein the processor is configured to receive a transmit request of a file stored in the memory, to determine whether the requested file exceeds a reference size, to send the requested file to a server through the communication unit using module configured with a file transfer function if the requested file exceeds the reference size, to receive from the server a file access path relating to the transmitted file, and to share the received file access path with another electronic device.   
     
     
         2 . The electronic device of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a display,   wherein the processor is configured to display a user interface relating to the module having the file transfer function and a module having a normal file transfer function on the display.   
     
     
         3 . The electronic device of  claim 2 , wherein, when the file is destined for one or more counterparts, the processor is configured to display the user interface relating to the module having the file transfer function and the module having the normal file transfer function on the display. 
     
     
         4 . The electronic device of  claim 2 , wherein, when the module having the normal file transfer function is selected, the processor is configured to display a guidance message for large file transfer on the display. 
     
     
         5 . The electronic device of  claim 1 , wherein the file access path comprises an address of the server and an authentication code corresponding to a storage location of the file. 
     
     
         6 . The electronic device of  claim 1 , wherein the file access path is generated based on at least one of: information about an electronic device which sends the file, a type of the file, and a storage location of the file. 
     
     
         7 . The electronic device of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to identify an application relating to the file transfer request, to input the received file access path in an input field of the identified application, and to send the input file access path to another electronic device. 
     
     
         8 . The electronic device of  claim 7 , wherein, when not identifying the application relating to the file transfer request, the processor is configured to copy the received file access path, to paste the file access path into an input field of a selected application, and to send the pasted file access path to another electronic device. 
     
     
         9 . The electronic device of  claim 1 , wherein, when the file access path is selected, the processor is configured to provide a webpage of the file uploaded to the server. 
     
     
         10 . The electronic device of  claim 1 , wherein, when accessing the server and receiving an authentication code of the file access path, the processor is configured to provide a webpage of the file uploaded to the server. 
     
     
         11 . The electronic device of  claim 10 , wherein the processor is configured to receive a file to download from a user in the webpage, to request to download the selected file, to download the requested file from the server, and to store the downloaded file in the memory. 
     
     
         12 . The electronic device of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to receive sharing configuration information to share a file transmitted to the server, to send the sharing configuration information to the server, and to share the file with another electronic device based on the setting information. 
     
     
         13 . The electronic device of  claim 12 , wherein the sharing configuration information comprises at least one of: a sharing period, a sharing counterpart, a sharing channel, and a sharing authentication code of the file. 
     
     
         14 . The electronic device of  claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to receive the reference size from a base station server and to set the reference size in the electronic device. 
     
     
         15 . A method for operating an electronic device, comprising:
 receiving a transmit request of a file stored in a memory of the electronic device;   determining whether the requested file exceeds a reference size;   sending the requested file to a server using a module configured with a file transfer function if the requested file exceeds the reference size;   receiving a file access path relating to the transmitted file from the server; and   sharing the received file access path with another electronic device.   
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 15 , further comprising:
 displaying a user interface comprising the module of the file transfer function and a module of a normal file transfer function.   
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 16 , further comprising:
 when the module of the normal file transfer function is selected, displaying a guidance message for large file transfer.   
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the file access path comprises an address of the server and an authentication code corresponding to a storage location of the file. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein sharing comprises:
 identifying an application relating to the file transfer request;   inputting the received file access path in an input field of the identified application; and   sending the input file access path to another electronic device.   
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 15 , further comprising:
 displaying a webpage of the file uploaded to the server when the file access path is selected.
